New Proper Build - Where's The Music Scan Button?

Hi,

I downloaded the new PROPER build last night (with the Dell / XME skin) and found that it hadn't retained the music archived under the 'My Music' menu option.

I wasn't worried about that so much, but when I went to scan the HDD for the files again I found that the 'Scan' button wasn't there. Is it missing from this skin or am I doing something wrong. I also noticed that I didnt have any drives / shares available to navigate in this view.

The only thing I did other than to install the XBMC files was to retain my XboxMediaCenter.xml from an earlier build. Perhaps the format of the XML has changed?

Also, to avoid creating another post here are some other questions about this new build.

1. I noticed that in the Icon view of My Programs (after scanning for XBEs) only default icons are shown, whereas we used to get a nice game /app specific icon pulled from the XBE. Has anyone else found this or got a solution?

2. Is it right or wrong to assume that the 'Take Screenhot (click left thumbstick)' feature would create a custom icon for the chosen movie? Are the screenshots supposed to be displayed anywhere in the skin? I've been clicking my left thumbstick but nothing's happening so far!

3. I was playing around in the new OSD (using the XBOX controller - I don't have a remote) and got to the bookmark dialog box. From here I was completely unable to exit the dialogue and in the end had to reboot the box. Could this be a bug, or again just my hopelessness?

Hope someone can help!

OK, first off, youll need to get the xboxmediacenter.xml from the package that you got with the proper release.  Go thru an edit it it match your set up, thats why your not seeing any shares/drives show up.  Once thats all sorted, youll see the scan button.  Since you have nothing to scan, thats why its not showing up.  I have it on mine.

I am gettting the Icons for apps/games.  Maybe this has to do with not using the xbmc.xml that came with the release.

Well, when you take a screen shot with say your computer, it just take a pitcure of whats on the screen and saves it to your HDD.  Same thing with this as well.  It places a file in the Screenshots folder (youll have to create one yourself in the $home$ directory of XBMC).  You should be able to look at any screenshots then thru My Pictures.  It wont set up that screenshot as an thumbnail for the movie or TV show like you get when you search IMDB.

You have 2 options here.  Once the bookmark box is on the screen, hit Y to keep playing and just exit the dialog box, or hit B and stop video from playing, and your back at the list of files.  This is all assuming you havent changed the keymapping.xml.  You can read keymapping.txt to find out what keys do what.  Most of the time if youve got a new build and its not all working out rights, checking the NFO that came with it will help.

Thanks for the advice. If it is due to my old XML settings file, perhaps its time to update the documentation, which advises users when upgrading to delete all the files in their XBMP folder, *except* for any modified XML files...  <
