well i started the main quest however i was wondering if there are any known negative or adverse effects to finishing the main quest and after that completing and playing the rest of the world. if i understand correctly you can keep playing and adventuring after the main quest is over right?

the only thing diffrent is that all the gates are closed. so close all the gates you want before you do it. thats it

thanks a bunch!! actually the only reason why i would rush to finish the game would be to close all of the gates, but if i can close all of the damn things without the need t actually finish the game then that is all i will do.

wait, am I reading this correctly??

you can start the main quest, gates will begin to open, you can close all gates b4 you proceed with any of the main quest?

do they appear on the map?

They appear on the map whenever you find one, just like when you find a new mine or something, it all of a sudden shows up on your map and you can quick travel to it.

After Kvatch, I took Jauffre and Martin into the Oblivion gates and cleared the freaking place out. Those two guys are crazy powerful, and they cannot die.
