as title says, i need to find a black soul gem for an offering.  Where do i find one or how can i make one if need it be.

go to the mages guild in cheydinal- in the cellar are some living quarters for a dude named falcor. he has two in his desk.  I didnt see if they were there beofre the quest i  did, but i had to give them to this guy  a tthe end of the recomendation quest for that city.  its an easy quest and It is the first quest you have to do for the mages guild in that town so if u have to do that not a big deal. if u are planning on joinijng the mages guild u may be able to just give the guy one of the soul gems and keep the other i dont know.  then again if they are quest items the game wont let you drop them.

im sure they are lots more , but those are the two i ran into so far.

wow, the game is totally different for us. My cheydinal recommendation was nothing like that. I had to get in a well and get a ring, and Falcor or whoever went missing when I got it but I still got recommendation.

yah, i had to do the same thing, but then when falcor was missing that one guy told me to bring him two black soul gems out of his desk.  then he wrote the recomendation.

I dont recall, maybe he did. That was the 2nd quest I did on the day I got the game, Ive done so much since that its all a blur.

I just got done checking a ayleid ruin and had to kill a few more sorcerers and damn did I get some nice shit down there from casks and from their inventory. These side quests are getting more rewarding, and the enemies are bad ass. I have yet to do a main quest, lol. I just joined the arena and I must say I dont care for it much. it doesnt allow me to weat my enchanted armor which is far better than the attributes of what you get from the arena to wear.

does the pay off ever go up? I doubt I'll be doing that often, theres so much Id rather do. the damn armor isnt worth anything either, cheap bastards

its for one of the shrines, its Vaermina's shrine, I need to get a black soul gem as an offering.

the guide says:

There are two ways to het them.  if your lucky, grand black soul gems will turn um in necromancer loot.  the closest necromancer lair to the shrine of dark fissure- almost straight east across the reed river headwaters.  a boss and a boss coffin can be found on the caves thrid level.


(it doesnt say if the gems are on this boss or just a random drop from the necros.)

or secondly, u can make one.  ideally, youll have completed the mages guidl quest, the  "necromancers moon"  basically it gives u a book and notes that lay out the process..  you need and empty grand soul gem, and a soul trap spell.  u can buy grand soul gems somewhere in the mages guild, or supposedly there is one in an isolated house in the wilderness  called the drakelow house.  it is south of chedynal town or whatever the hell it is called.  there is a river that extends north all the way from bravil.  The river forks at the very top.  it is below the fork.  (travel south from the chedynal city as i said) take a trap door at the south fire place and in the basement somewhere there is a grand soul gem.

anyway, so u take your soul gem and your summon spell, and go to  necromancer lair dark fissure - east across read river. or fort istirus east of kvatch, or fort linchal northeast of kvatch.  anyway there is a n altar outside of these places, and once a week a light will descend from the sky.  u may have to wait up to six days. when the light is there, place the soul gem in the altar, and cast soul trap on the alter.  the soul gem will become a black soul gem.

I just finished all of the reccomendation quests to get access to arcane university, but it doesn't appear there is anywhere new I can go. I thought I would get access to the spellmaking alter and such. Whats the deal?

to deftech: pays goes up 50 gold for every rank that you move up(it only takes about 3 or 4 matches to move up)

you cant make spells?! did you atleast get past the gate? I only have 2 recommendations, working on 3rd, it better let me make spells after all this shit. and somehow I got that "black stone" quest, and right after that I accepted a "stop the goblin war" quest *sigh*. Its not easy being a good guy.

I might try more arena but Im getting frustrated. every enemy is now a boss battle within itself. Im getting attacked by atleast 3 major baddies at once every time I enter a cave or a ruin/fort. these dinosaur creatures(which I thought only came from oblivion gates, which cant be possible because none have opened here), and a sorcerer and conjurer. I dont even have time to back up and hit a hotkey and all 3 are on my ass.

Last night I came to a ruin and the conjurer made a huge ass warrior, so not only did I have to fight his conjured warrior and him, and a damn necromancer, but a wilo wisp was there too. And why in shits name are animals leveling up along with me?

wtf, I work my ass off to level up and the bears and wolves get stronger? wtf do they do? eat enchanted meat? Im nearing 17 or 18, I dont recall, maybe its 16. I wish some of these ruins werent so infested with vamps and shit so I could actually just explore. This is turning into a ninja gaiden but in midevil times. Around every corner awaits an exaggerated amount of enemies that are 10 times more powerful than myself at times, and they come in triplets now. Even the damn skeletons are a good test of skill, lol, Those are about the only thing I dont get irritated with.

sorry for the rant. I went to bed irritated, Im sure once I pick it up later I'll be in better spirits (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

anyone find the "Bound" stone yet? with the bound gauntlets and that little bound dagger? Care to explain? lol

I dont see its benefits really.
