Ive mentioned this b4 and how it doesnt seem to work for me...

I found out I can trap the soul of a creature I summon, so I tried it on the skeleton and the zombie instead of something random in the world(which didnt work for me either), and still I get nothing.

When I trap the soul, what exactly is supposed to happen? what do I do with the gems, if anything, after I use the soul trap spell?

Id like to understand this concept, I fear its easier than I think and Im looking 2 deep into it. And only respond if youve actually done it in THIS game, talking about Morrowind might not help if it works differently.

you use it to enchant any other item you have; weapons, armor, or any other thing. usually its best to use expensive rings and stuff like that as the results are the best with things other than weapons and armor. you can then add the effect of a spell you have to that item.

this can be done at mage's guilds or even by yourself if your skill is high enough. the better the gem and the stronger the creature, the better the result will be.

i remember in morrowind there was an item named azuras star. it was a reusable soul gem that was as strong as the strongest gem. with that i created a ring that permanently let me levitate while i had it equiped. you can do good stuff like that with them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

thanks, but youre telling me what to do after I trap a soul.

I cant trap the soul and the gems sit in my inventory being useless.

let me add that I have 4 in my inventory, 1 common, 1 lesser, and 2 petty.When I access them from my inventory, they all say "none" except for one of the Pettys. It actually says Petty when its highlighted, but its useless from what I can tell.

Im either looking at this all wrong or somethings not right. I tried recharging at a guild incase the single Petty was useable, and I was told theres nothing to recharge.

what is "supposed" to happen after or during a soul trap? I dont see any info pop up saying that it was done successfully so maybe the soul wasnt trapped afterall.

i havent done it in oblivion yet, but in morrowind all you needed to do was have a gem in your inventory and cast soultrap on a monster. then kill the monster and it will ask you what gem you want to put it in.

i imagine it would work the same in the new game.

Then No, its not working for me. Ive done exactly that and nothing happens, I dont get asked anything and all gems stay useless from what I can see. Its a "Minor soul trap" scroll Im using, that should work right?

now Im even more confused, lol

correct.
you have to kill the monster within a certain amount of time, i think 30 sec, after casting soul trap

Make sure you're doing it within the limit.

is there any kind of magical swirl or cloud when you cast the soul trap spell in Oblivion?  I havn't had the oppurtunity to try this spell in Oblivion yet, but I know in Morrowind there was a swirling cloud around the guy while the time limit was available.

yeah kage told me about the time limit yesterday. Id say I kill it within 10 seconds, and still nothing.

if I at some point get it to work and say, enchant a ring....

does that ring stay active? maybe I should try and catch a vamp, I know where the bastards hide

again, I only have morrowind experience on if the ring will stay active or not.  But in morrowind, you had the option of enchanting an item to be cast, or to be used constantly.  If you chose constantly, then it would always work while you were wearing it.

on aother note...Im getting copies made of this map so I can start making my own, or should I say adding 2 it.

There are a LOT of paths that arent on the map, be it the ingame map or the one that comes with the game. I found bridges and steps in the mountains that blew me away, all during a thunderstorm, what an experience. Id like to add such details to it so I know whats what and where and so on.

stupid question alert....

Can we enchant a ring thats already enchanted with something else?

And how many can we wear at once? Im already wearing 2 I believe.

I need one bad. I need to put off killing ogres and settle down and get a home.

What exactly is a Circlet? I have the Weatherward Circlet and its always active. I also have equipped Ancotars Ring of Protection.

cheapest house = $2000 in market district of main city, go to commerce building, and charm the lady to about 60 and she will sell it to you, then go to three brothers shop to get a treasure chest to put your goods in, you get a 3 piece set for 710g.

its not showing on my character in the menu screen(thought it might but had to double check), its active though.

2 grand is cheapest house? can anyone confirm this? nothings cheaper in any of the towns? Ive got better things to buy with that, like bigger and better spells Thanks for the info though.

why in poops name do you need a 3 piece set? it only holds so much? this is too realistic, I want one chest to hold everything
