Have tried this like 10 times to no avail - just to see if it was true - so far, all I have ever done is take all his gold at once... how can you take it a coin at a time?  Anyways, doesn't work for me

did it and it works.  just dont press x to take all!!!!   the whole game and system freezes up!

I have no idea how you guys are doing this.  I \"killed his ass dead\" with one hit (difficulty really low), and proceded to take all ten of his gold, one at a time, nothing happened i.e. glitched at eight. If you have any suggestions or observations, super.

I made 2.5 million the day I heard about it. I hate having to worry about money all the time in a game like this. All I want to do is explore the world and this let me do that more. So for me this increased the enjoyment I am getting out of the game. I spent a few hours figuring this out and found some things out.

Here you guys go. (Finally a way to give back to this community)

Steps:

1) Wait until 2-3 in the morning (So nobody sees you)

2) Go into sneak mode and get into his house. This way the guards will not come in after you

3) Bribe the guy and then use the persuasion mini game to make him dislike you. This is to give him more money which makes this go by much faster. I did this and he had 500 gold.

4) Once he has enough money kill him. An easy way to do this is to stand in the door way on the left side facing the large room of the house. For some reason the AI has the guy running to the left side and he will not get past you. This was the only way I could kill him because he kept running away like a little pu@#$*

5) Once he is dead open his inventory. DO NOT PRESS THE X BUTTON !!!!!!! Take his clothing one by one and then his house key. Once you have taken everything BUT the gold highlight the gold and press A once and then press A again. You should see the gold number go down once and then stay there.  Keep pressing A until you have all the gold you want.

**Notes**

1) If you skip step 3 you will have to push the A button a lot more to get the same amount.
Example:

My first time the guy had 21 gold. I killed him and the gold got stuck on 20. The second and third time I got the guy past 500.

2.5 mill @ 20 gold = 125000 clicks
2.5 mill @ 500 gold = 5000 clicks

2) If you press X while still in the dead mans inventory after you have been doing this it will freeze the game. I learned this the hard way twice after I had 2 million+.

3) SAVE SAVE AND SAVE AGAIN. You can save as much as you want in this game so there should be no "I screwed up and now I can't do it anymore"

Exactly, if I were to stumble upon an infinite amount of cash in the real world;
it would definately enhance my life.
It's the same in a virtual world (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I may have to go try this... after I do it I can always just leave and have that option available if I am in desperate need of some gold... You can go back and keep taking money after you leave correct??

Anyways, I look at it as security, or maybe even like a loan, that you don't have to pay back... I mean, come on, who here bought their house without a loan (IRL), why not pull out a "loan" to use towards your Oblivion home purchase???  

I refuse to use it to train my character to some obscene levels though.. that would be cheating in my book... heheheh  I think  may have some kinda double standards

Nope

Once you leave the guys inventory that is it. You can never come back and do this again. That is why I went ahead and got 2.5 million. I did not want to need an extra 100k for something.

great little tutorial thepissedoffman.  i like the idea of bribing him first.  that way you dont have to hit a for the gold like a few hundred thousad times.  i was able to get the glitch to work but im just going to revert to save and only really use it if im dying for gold.  i just tried it to see what the expensive spells are like.  plus it says youve been seen by unknow forces that could affect the game in the long run.  if anyonw knows the consequeses it would be nice to hear.  and as far as going back to his dead body i think it is taken away once you leave the house.

The unseen force is the assassins guild. The first time you kill somebody ( an innocent person ) that starts the assassins guild quest. The only thing that will happen is if you go to sleep somebody will wake you up in the middle of the night and give you a quest to get in the assasin guild. If you do what they ask you to do you are in the guild. If not then the quest just stays there and nothing happens.

I am going to complete all of the fighters guild missions then start that one up.

yea, and regardless, you have to kill someone this way  (observed by unknown forces) later in the game, so its not going to hurt anything.

I had to see if this works. It does. Only thing I did different to the above.

Dorion would go right if I blocked left, he'd go left if I was on the right. I closed the door (to the big room) and stood in the middle, he couldn't open it while I was there.

oh damn thanks for the info thepissedoffman.  im gonna go kill em know lol.  ill do the assasins guild first then the thief guild later.  cause you get kicked from the theif guild if you go and kill someone.  thanks alot for the help man.

only get kicked from thief guild for murder if theres a thief quest active at the time of the crime.
