What Would You Do?
« on: December 11, 2005, 10:50:00 AM »

Kameo and Gears of War, Kameo and Oblivion, or Gears of War and Oblivion.

ps. I'm not skeptical on if Kameo is a good game or not, it looks fantastic, but I I'm not sure if it's a justifiable purchase over other games games that I know will be worth the cash in the long-run.

(Gears of War and Oblivion are used as examples)  pop.gif

ummm, gears and oblivion wont be out for a good 3 to 4 months(and thats being optimistic), so in that time you can't get more $$ together and still get Kameo now?

how can you not like cod 2 and condemned and others? Id hate for you 2 miss out on those experiences.

Nope, I won't be able to get my hands on much cash until summer the way things are going right now. Also, I enver said I don't like COD2 and Condemned (etc), they just aren't my type of games. COD2 looks great, but COD1 didn't last me very long. I have my reasons for the others too. I'm taking careful precautions with games. If I went all out and got COD2 (would probably last 'me' for a short while) and Kameo, then the games I'd really want are out of the question. Getting Oblivion, Gears of War, etc are a bigger priority to me. I know that Oblivion and Gears of War won't be out for another 3-4 months, but I don't want to make a dumb decision and miss out on them just to play games that nearly peak my interest as of now. Kameo is the only launch title (besides Quake 4) that I'd purchase alongside Halo 2. If I weren't getting Halo 2, then it'd be different (yeah yeah, the next gen games are etter than Halo2 or whatever. Try being left out of Halo gaming since it came out - would you dismiss the first chance you have of getting into the series (that every other shooter you've played up to date tried to mimick) come Halo 3?).
Anyways, back to the main question. smile.gif

jester.gif I know. I had no choice but to keep it, though. Long story, don't ask.

if your cash is so tight you gotta hold out for months to get 1 game then get Oblivion cause im sure that game will take hours upon hours to complete unlike gears of war which will probably take an average amount of time to complete. now if i was to choose for myself i would get gears of war.

Just to let you know if you want to get into the Halo series...you should just pick up the Triple Pack...that way you can start from the beginning...and yeah Halo CE is still a fun game.

IMO, PDZ multiplayer beats the hell out of Halo MP... but I never thoght Halo was that amazing, I thought it was always overhyped and I couldnt ever understand why people liked it so much. Even the single player didnt interest me much. i dunno, its just not me...

Those are some good points and if i didnt have much cash, i would definately just get halo 2 and play that until Gear Of War and Oblivion comes out and make your decision then.  I just beat kameo and its a great game but is quite short.  PGR 3 is a great game as well but doesnt have much variation.  The demos are great fun to play on the 360 so just stick with that for now is what i would suggest smile.gif

wait a minute, back this shit up..

I just realized something(took 2 days, Im slow). Carlo, a month ago, posted a book on why he decided against Oblivion, he went into great detail as to why he was no longer interested in it. I tried to stick up for the game but he shot me down faster than I do Ozys opinions(hahaha)

Carlo, what changed your mind  biggrin.gif

If you're thinking against COD2 because you don't think it will last you that long then avoid Kameo like the plauge... most people I know with it can beat Kameo over a long weekend. Don't get me wrong it's a fantastic game, I've played through the demo and over a few friends houses and I'm considering buying it myself but i wouldn't be buying it if that was my only game for a few months.

You'll definitely want a game that has an enormous amount of replay value...

Halo 2, as far as I'm concerned has crap for replay value, the solo missions are boring and the game is easily beaten, multiplayer is fun for a short while but becomes annoying as hell very quickly with all the cheaters and 10 year old that think calling strangers the N word online is somehow fun. Not to mention with all the great new FPSs out now Halo 2 is getting less and less play and soon the only people you'll be playing against are bargain bin rumagers or 10 year olds who can't afford new games.

My suggestion to you:
Forget about Halo 2, Forget about Kameo

Pick up Quake 4, a decent length FPS, it comes with Quake 2 so you'll get a whole 2nd games worth of play out of it. Plus it's got good replay value seeing as it's got multiplayer online (not the best of the available FPSs but good none the less).

Then wait for Oblivion to come out and get that. As it will undoubtedly last you hours and hours and hours much like Morrowind.

If you're looking for the least amount of games to get you the most amount of replay value then that's my suggestion to you.

If you're looking for a good long racer then pickup PGR3, another game that will last you weeks and weeks easily.

If all else fails hock some of your other stuff...  wink.gif

...

*  Get your 360 now with Kameo and sell it on eBay.  That's right, pimp it out for $800 then put a new preorder down on a future 360 unit.  Since you aren't really going to begin playing it now, who cares if you get it before Xmas or early next year?  Plus with the extra $350+ you net, you can get Kameo, Gears of War, Oblivion, COD2, and whatever else you like no problem....

Actually, yeah, that's one of the best suggestions I've heard all day.

Maybe this will help you out...

Gears of War was pushed till Fall 2006. huh.gif  As told to me by 3 differant idiot Game Store employees over the past 3 weeks.

So you can forget about picking that game up in 3-4 months.

...says the idiots at the store. Whether its true or not, never take their word for it(generally speaking).

the game has only been given a launch time by the game stores/sites, I dont believe Cliffy or Mark has actually said "spring '06".

Alls Epic says is Emergence Day 2006. If you can find me a quote from someone at Epic that said "spring '06", Please point us in the right direction.

On that note, if its true, the decision will be easier for Ozy, err I mean Carlo  tongue.gif . Also, it'll only be better if it comes out next fall  smile.gif
