Take PGR3.

PGR3:  More of a sim, gameplay is focused on pure racing, with style! Graphics are amazing.
NFSMW: arcade, running away from cops, I never really liked it's graphics but some do.

PGR3 is definatly a higher quality game than NFSMW, (ie Forza was higher quality than NFS underground 2, just some people prefer arcade racers).

it all depends what you're looking for.  if you want "NAWS" (nitrous) and a virtually unlimited supply of it then go with NFS:MW.  If you want more of a simulator with an arcade feel then go with PGR3.  Both are fun in their respective ways if you are a racing fan.

PGR3 absolutely. NFSMW has some hardcore fans who couldnt be persuaded into hating the game no matter what anybody said. But just based on the 360 demo you can see EA is taking a huge dump on your new console and your money if you buy the game. Worse than bad framerates, last-gen graphics hidden behind bloom and blur and driving "physics" where you can actually strafe with your car as if it had four wheel steering. Horrible, simply horrible.

And like I said some people swear by NFSMW, even upgrade their computers to match the pathetic system requirements of the amazingly unoptimized coding that runs like turd on my A64 3200+, 2GB DDR400 and 6800GT. You just cant talk sensibly with fans of that game. They are a hoard of NFS zombies.

I'd say if you REALLY must play NFSMW get it for xbox1 where it runs sorta ok compared to the hardware, but still looks nothing like Burnout Revenge and runs with third the framerate.

I'm not a huge fan of PGR either, I'd much rather have Forza 360 as a launch title, but if somebody put a gun to my head I'd buy three copies of PGR3 and give them to my friends but not a single copy of NFSMW, thats for damn sure.

 PGR3                                       NFSMW                                 WINNER
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SOUND              | Soundtrack sucks but        | Dont remember soundtrack but I would|
                         | thankfully you can stream | Guess it is mostly rap, again you can   |     TIE
                         | Mp3s off PC                    | Stream Mp3s off of devices                 |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PRESENTATION  | Very Bland, UI not nearly  | Has a storyline and styleized FMV, caught|
                         | as intuitive as PGR2 was   |my attention and held it fairly well. car     |
                         | Live integration with single | customization menu is easy to use         | NFSMW
                         | player sucks!                   |                                                             |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GRAPHICS         |  Amazingly realistic environments  |  I personal think the car models look        |
                         | but something about the cars just | better in this, but the environments         |    PGR3
                         |  doesnt look right, small price to    | look like the Xbox 1 version. also             |
                         | pay for amazing 1st person view  | I was getting a lot of Aliasing on 1024X768|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GAMEPLAY         | Feels Like Gotham 2, much more realistic      | Arcade type game. very slidey    |
                        | then NFS.  driveing is fun                              |  physics... feels like NFSU2. Car | TIE
                        |   with the addition of 1st person view. only       | customization is always fun tho  |
                        | bad thing is the yellow conesInConeChallenge | and is the big advantage for NFS|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall              | Hmm it seems we have a tie!   Maybe you should rent them both and decide which one                                             | you like better....    Gotham is personally my favorite but I like both games.  Cop chases                           | and spoilers,or 170 MPH minimum and kudos, its up to you but you cant go wrong with                                          |either

NFSMW is way better in my opinion.  I don't think it really has anything to do with the "type" of games you like because I love Gran Turismo games, which are similar to PGR3, but I don't really like PGR3 very much.  It's okay.  I don't think it looks as great as some people see.  I think the roads looks extremely fake and the cars don't really look that great, except in the garage.  I haven't played a whole lot of it so I don't really know if there are great looking tracks.  I love the normal maps roads in NFSMW, the way the sunshine bounces off it is beautiful.  PGR3 is more graphically realistic, but I think NFSMW looks better.  I also think NFSMW is funner and has better content too.

First off, you shouldnt pay attention to anyone who replied with something like

"PGR SUX0rZ and NFW is teh aweshumo!"

NFS MW = NFS:UG + NFS:HP

If you like NFS then you'll love most wanted. The cut scenes keep you wanting more, even though some of the cast is the biggest group of toolbags Ive ever seen.  My only real complaints about this game are luck beating out skill (you're winning? Sorry that van crossing the street on the last turn of the race wrecked you, and you lost) and the lack of cars. There are only like 20(?) to choose from. The graphics are pretty good, the reduced color palette creates a nice atmosphere.

I own this on XBOX not 360 so my comment pertain more to the XBOX then the 360 game.

PGR3 is my fave 360 game by far, so I will openly admit Im biased towards it.To me, the thrill of e-brake sliding a McLaren F1 to the inside of the turn to pass the F50 GT is more thrilling then knocking down a donut sign onto a cop. PGR is the best looking game Ive ever played (COD2 being a very close second) and NFS seems to be stuck in the EA rut of "been there done that"  Again my only complaint is the number of cars , however there are 75 (or more?) to pick from and most of them are sticky exotics, it says something when one of the first cars you can buy are a corvette C6 and a Skyline R34 Nur. Also the 2 added arcade games "Geometry Wars" and "Geometry Wars 2" are great. Ive actually played them more then Madden 06

I whole heartedly suggest you rent/borrow them both, even rent PGR3 and DL the demo of NFS.
Just because one person likes PGR3 over NFSMW doesnt meant you will.

I just look at the last generation. The gameplay from PSX/N64-PS2/xbox/gamecube wasnt that different, the games just seemed to look better. Here is a good example. Gran Turismo, gameplay wise, GT1 and GT4 are almost the same just slightly better physics in the new one. As for shooters, it seems the only difference in console shooters has been that they all now have a jump button (except PDZ) unlike the N64/PSX days. MGS hasnt changed much from the first MGS on PSX. Now the 360 is here and the gameplay seems the same once again. I'm just not happy with the gameplay anymore, and I thinks it is due to the type of games everyone plays anymore. It seems like Nintendo and Sega were the only companies that wanted to make games and not "real life simulations". People expect graphics now also, which makes the developers use all the power for that. I'll admit I don't want to play an ugly game, but its not that important. With all these "I can't live with jaggies" etc. people, yup they are the ones dragging the industry down. Now Sega is gone for the most part and not enough people buy Nintendo products to keep the great games coming. I just miss playing games, as some of you do also, or you wouldnt be playing so much Live Arcade wink.gif

Anyways, sorry for being off-topic, carry on.

i agree
on both sides
on one hand games arent as pick up and go fun as they used to be
EX: pac man, mario,tetris ect

but that is because game play has gotten more complex...
wiht advanced controller schemes and in game combos many older gamers  get over whelmed and end up saying "screw this, games have changed too much"

im some where in the middle i like my old school fun games but enjoy sinking into a more complex fun game somthing  i leanr and then through my new game skill have fun...

i think this is what keeps many girls from gaming too, as my girl friend playse alot of live arcade some times i cant even get a chance to play...

in the end yes games are still reinventing themselfs and still fun but they are getting harder to find...
then again...look at the gagillions of classic games out there that are no fun at all, how many classic games are worth playing? not many...

Although gameplay is advancing at a much slower rate than the audio/video aspects of games, it is still making progress. A great example are RPGs. RPGs of yore depended on turn-based combat and linear storytelling. Now, we're able to fight freely, branch out into different paths, and even make good/evil decisions that not only affect the character's appearance but his/her strengths and weaknesses to the opposing side as well.

I prefer turn based anyways. Besides, have you ever played fallout? What you did affected your stats, the way you had to play the game, how you interacted with characters, your Karma, etc. That game is how many years old now?
QUOTE

In fighting games, where we used to just be able to block an attack, we can now perform reversal moves that turn the tide in our favor. Combo systems in fighters keep getting more complex and intuitive. Now, I hate Tekken with a passion, but I have to give it respect for its stellar fighting engine.

You mean combos keep getting easier. Thats right, someone can just mash buttons now and make it look like they know what they are doing.
QUOTE

In racing games, car control was merely a left/right and accel/decel option. We can now slide with the brakes, use pressure sensitive controls to gradually ramp up the speed and even feel the effect of our driving via controller vibration.

Like I was saying, I could have all that on Gran Turismo 1 on the PSX with my dualshock. Or I could use a steering wheel and pedals on my computer.
QUOTE

In action games, it used to be mindless "hack 'n' slash." Two words: Ninja Gaiden.

Ninja Gaiden felt like hack and slash to me............

Then why does M$ feel the need to keep having more and more Live arcade games?
Why are there so many dedicated people that make emulators?
I can play duke3d, doom, descent1&2, etc in windows xp, because dedicated people have made it possible.
I have hundreds of ROMS on my xbox, I wouldnt call that, not many.......

well some of the camparisons stated seem a little dated.....

as for side scrollers being simple hack and slash, I have to completely disagree. Shinobi III on genesis was prolly one of the best games I played, well until the near impossible later levels. There was blocking, sneaking, dash and slash, super moves, the whole nine. Ninja Gaiden in the arcade was great and is a fun title even by todays standards.

Innovation does not lie in the consoles coming out but in the software developers. If we keep telling EA that its fine to keep rehashing titles why should they innovate? Please dont say that cone passing in madden is innovation, its really called a gimmick.

It just seems to me that its all or nothing in terms of new games. The cost to make a game, especially on the 360 and upcoming PS3 deters most develops from trying to take too big of a chance on a game. I personally love to try out new games and I usually wait till after the "popular" titles' buzz has died down and I can find out if they are actually worth getting.

Its incredible that this thread has gotten so far off topic yet remaind so... civil is quite simply amazing. I still say PGR3 is better then NFSMW, mainly because I think you can snag most wanted for 35 used on XBOX and play it on your 360

EDIT: Oh yeah FALLOUT!  I absolutely LOVE both Fallout 1 and 2  great story, great writing, and prolly the best voice acting ever in video games.  I played through each game numerous times in numerous ways. Fall out and Red Alert 2 are the oldest 2 PC games I own and still play.
