Differences Between This And Older Versions

I played Madden years ago, not sure which one it was.  But I was just curious about the newer versions of it.  What really changes?  

I enjoyed the game previously, don't get me wrong. I just don't recall there being that much they could drastically change.  Is it just better graphics or something?
