Madden On 360... Where You Let Down?
« on: November 29, 2005, 07:28:00 PM »

I was so let down by EA Games with madden 2006... They left out 70% of the things I love and charged 10$'s more I was wondering if I was the only one who felt cheated by ea games on this one   sleeping.gif

Something i posted on EA's forum.

I'm not a big fan of Madden as the 2K series had won me over in the past several
years, so i was very disappointed when i heard EA would have an exclusive license
for 5 Years!

I was upset because no competition means exactly what's happening now.
They give you anything they want to cause if you want to buy an officially licensed
game you don't have a choice.

I know a lot of Madden fans who were happy when the news came out that
EA would have an exclusive because that meant their favorite game would
be #1, no more debates.

Now a lot of those fans aren't so happy.

I'm not a fan of this type of business practice cause in the end it only hurts the consumer.

I know everyone is saying the game was rushed, wait till next year, but what happens
next year when all they do is add the features from the older games that should
have been there from the start and charge you $60 for it.

Don't complain about Madden 360 because of all the stuff that it doesn't have,
complain because EA put out what they knew you were gonna buy because you
didn't have a choice, complain about the fact that it's probably gonna happen for at least another 5 years.

I'm not bashing EA because of what they did as i'm sure it was a good business move,
but plain and simple no competition means little if any innovation.

Just my two cents.

Dont forget that the 2k5 was ONLY 20 bucks and it included a whole bunch of stuff....Imo not being able to challenge is the most disapointing thing.. about the new madden on 360.I can care less about creating a player....but that gives me an idea that i have been pushing ever since i heard the bad news about the licence ea bought.

Why cant 2k games make a football game today everything is about customizing why not make a football game and let you create the team and have a random player generator unless you want to name them all and pick their equipment ect. with out violating the licence agreement...or using logos ect.

think about this arent you tired of people always using the same teams....ex patriots, eagles, colts.

I think they should do it and show (ea) that its all about the game play and inovation not the name that sells the lame game.

one more thing imagine playing the mini camp drills ect to improve player skills for the online play that would be a seller.

If anyone knows how to pitch this to 2k let me know ...email address ect...I think this would be a way to set an example and send a message that we arent happy. 60 bucks...they can do that just because they know 2k wont be an issue like a 50$ or 20$ game that rocks madden IMO.

um they didn't just do a rush job with madden so saying because they had an exclusive liscense is the reason why they did such a shoddy job is wrong. Nba live 2006 was very rushed and was missing a lot of features. EA dosn't have a exclusive liscense with the NBA and it's not made by the same development crew. Even NBA 2k6 was rushed and wasn't as complete as it could be. This is just something that happens with first gen releases they are half assed and that's the truth. So if you bought madden 2006 without reading the reviews then that is your mistake.

Dont worry i learned my lesson a long time ago since like madden 2003 that i would never buy another madden because it was always the same game with a new feature, but this time i expected more im glad my friend made the mistake not me.

i bought nba live 06 before the 360 came out.  the first sports title i've bought from EA since NBA Live 97 (yes 97) for the PC.  i thought it was going to be oustanding and while the graphics are nice as hell, LAG plagues the game worse than sonic 2 on genesis.  i also wanted to cry.  a lot of features are missing, it's just not a finished game (as someone else stated before me) but it is still fun and i'll be lookin out for nba live 07.  ea SHOULD have their act together by then, we'll see though.

The 2k series is the way to go there is no doubt in my mind about that one. that is if you want the real deal in a basketball sim. If you want an arcade feel then i understand.the 2k series would have definatly taken over in the sports department if it werent for the forsaken licence.

I agree that ea does make the best college football out there but i dont know i suspect 2k sports to put thier full effort into their college game...because in the past 2k made a half as game I hope that changes for the 360.

I'm somewhat dissapointed, but in the end, its still the same old madden gameplay that I know and love.  And thats about what it comes down to... raw football... certainly would enjoy being able to challenge plays, but other than that, I'm pretty content with it.  Graphics are gorgeous and online play is a blast, although sometimes laggy.  Am I sorry I spent money on it?  NO, because its the only football game out for the 360 and its deffinately a solid game.

When did 2K sports make a college football game? blink.gif Did I miss that one or something? I know they have a college basketball game and yes it is half assed compared to the NBA 2K's.

The last 2k college i think i saw was 2k3 so I am really counting on them to bring it back and compete with ea in college football.I might be wrong and confussed with b-ball 2k....but if im wrong they should really get started on one before ea buys that licence too.

i was also extremely upset when i heard the news about EA and the NFL license, personaly i think they had more money and started getting scared that the 2k series would win them over especially with the price difference so they did what they had to do to get rid of them for a while, who knows when that 5 years is up, EA could go ahead and drop another 5 year deal, with 2K not making any sales on NFL 2K how are they gonna come up with enough $$$ to do anything about

BUT...

if 2K created a football games without license id still buy it over madden

so what if the colts were called indianapolis rockets and tom brady was ron grady, we still know what teams are what and who is who

i would definatly purchase a football game if the first thing you had to do upon putting a disc in was creating a team b4 you can even play a game, that would be frigin awsome, that would be true online play, playing user created teams that had limits and caps on the statics of each player
