IGN has the scoop on the status on the Halo movie project. Neill Blomkamp, the director attached to the project, provided an update on the big screen debut of Master Chief:

"The film is entirely dead. In the configuration it was in. Whatever happens with that movie, assuming that movie gets made, will be a totally different configuration," Blomkamp informed Creativity-Online.com. "It's not so much me as the entire vessel sank. Basically, it was a combination of; there were two studios involved that weren't getting along in the process of making it, Universal and Fox. That kind of stuff happens, it's a fragile industry. So the film collapsed at the end of last year, and it's been dead, ever since then. I'll be curious to see what happens."

Yeeeaaaaahhhhhh... If the leaked script that came to light on the net not too long ago is any indication, this is a good thing. I would rather no movie than the movie they seemed to think they were making before.

Halo is a fucking first person shooter that derives most of its satisfaction from blasting away baddies and your friends... the rest is a rip of random sci-fi movies, most notably Alien...

its fun to play, NOT fun to watch... meaning the movie would be shit regardless if they tried to make it too much like the game... remember doom? fuck all like the plot (which was pretty flimsy to begin with, like most video games), but they had that shit first person scene... really, really horrible... blessing in disguise id say...

Someone will still make it. It would make a ton of money (box office, dvd, merc etc etc) whether its was a good movie or not so I bet at least one studio will take up the opportunity. Halo would make an awesome action movie IMO.

@ILLusions0fGrander, Dead or Alive is one of the worst/best films I've ever seen!  tongue.gif .

My belief exactly. With all the money this franchise is making along with its popularity, M$ won't let the movie die. It will be made sooner or later.

The people who made that are the ones that were doing the movie. To me this just sounds like info I already knew. The movie has beed in 'limbo' or as he said dead since the studios pulled out. I believe the reason for the short films was to draw interest back into the movie.

i don't see how this can't be made

a bunch of movie has gone into it... and really now, if they can put hunderds of millions of dollars into the crap that was spiderman3, why not think outside the box here and recognize that pretty much all the people that own halo would go see this movie with probably a bunch of non gamers as well that are checking out what halo is all about

Well, my little piece of heaven which was Halo: Combat Evolved for the original Xbox was slaughtered with the creation of Halo 2.

And Halo 3, a Halo Movie, a Halo stratagy game, Halo books, or even a fucking Halo cartoon will not change that.

I say bring on the Halo movie, so it can put the final nail in the coffin of this disaster. I mean, why do something half-ass? Infact, lets rename the the fucking planet Halo.

PS. M$, I will NEVER forgive you for this...
