I would just do a little bitchin' . My friend had the same exact problem, they were telling him that it would cost i think $129 to fix. Then he just bitched a little and got it free.

Back to topic:
This is, like someone else said, most likely the DVD drives/MOBO's

Games dont kill 360s , People kill 360s with poor placement

"lets put this $400 piece of technology right next to my $1000 HDTV so all the heat from both will accumulate in less than 2 square feet"

Not the "end all" to RRoD. But I think this is probably about 36% of most cases.

Glitch you nailed it right there, the ONLY people i know that have gotten the RROD are people encasing there systems beside other devices pumping out massive amounts of heat...

my systems are both launch, and the ONLY time my system EVER had an issue was because i was trying to make my crap look nice and compacted all bunched together....

soon as i moved it to another location...all was perfect, my temps are always in the correct range, no freezes, no nothing.

every now and then ill get a game to glitch and freeze...but no more then my Nintendo/psone/sega etc did back in the day, its expected...nothing is 100% in life, i cope and deal!

That's utter garbage.   My 360 couldn't have more free space around it.  My first one died within a month of getting it.  This second one has locked up / frozen up on games and given "dirty disc" errors ever since I Got it even on discs that were 100% perfect.   The longer it is on, the more likely it will give me problems.

The front, both sides, top, and back are all open cool air.  It is nowhere near any heat producing equipment, yet it still acts like a computer that is getting too hot for its own good.

Microsoft says that I'm out of warranty on it..... for anything that isn't the RRoD it is 1 year still.   RRoD error is 3 years coverage.   If I get "lucky" and my 360 goes all RRoD on me then I can get another repaired one.  Bullshit.

I am one of those who has gotten the disc read errors.  I bought my 360 in Feb of this year, and it was Manu'ed in Aug 06.  It has played every game fine that I ever put in there... EXCEPT, one time when I put Gears in, it gave me the Disc is dirty it may be the system or the disc error please restart.  Then all of a sudden I get Halo 3 and its doing the same thing to me.  Now it does it all the time now, says disc is dirty blah blah blah.  The disc is perfect, no dirt or scratches... but I did write to Xbox and they told me to restart system as it may be system error... wtf?

Also... I have noticed too that since I have had Halo 3 the system acts goofy.  I cant quit back to the dashboard and play UMK3.  When I try to do that , I search for open lobbies on UMK3, and it will list like 5 to 7 of them.  I wont be able to connect to any of them, and no one can connect to a game that I have open.  I have to actually restart the system and go from there.

If my system RRoD's that will be crappy but hey... I'm covered under warranty for a while so hopefully it RRoD's before it expires lol.

I played halo for several hours on my xbox 360.  I took the same copy to a friends house so he could play it.  It forced his xbox to due a update (he doesn't have live) and when the xbox came back on, the dashboard made an odd sound and lines started running through the screen.  Then the rrod came on.

Well mine works without a problem, brand new hdmi box. Although the release night my limited edition disks were scratched so gamestop switched them with regular copies of the game on the spot. Havent had a freeze or anything like that.

Its nice how instead of having fellow users back people up all you get are fanboys backing up their system of choice. I'm sorry but there too many people getting the error at the same spot for it to be peoples machines, especially since most people say they can still play every other game they own fine. I've had 5 halo3 disks, they all play fine till a load screen then they dont start again, like my laser was fucking the disk as it read it the first time. Microsoft should never have let this happen, this was the biggest launch they have seen, if not anyone, I dont even think mario gets this type of attention! Instead of rushing new disks "that work" out to those in need they say send us your disk we'll send you one back for free, please wait 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry I didnt pay £50 to play something a month from now, I bought it now I want to play it now!!!! I too would say fuck you Microsoft I'm off to join  sony, even though I cant stand that fucking horribly awkward controller, were it no for, as someone else said, to play what? I love my 360 I love the online live service built in i love( in a non sexual way) the friends iv made and play with on live, but this is almost unforgivable, and for them not even to offer to pay overnight shipping both ways is just a slap in the face cos they know we want it and we'll do whatever to get it!

TO come back to my other point, we need to see some camaraderie here all you little retards jumping about saying " its all 10 year olds crying wah wah wah" better get something through your head, someday it will be YOU that gets fucked over and you'll want people to care and not just hear crap about how someone else is fine and you can get fucked. Not to be overly dramatic but the same thing happened in Germany in 1939. Microsoft, Sony, any big business you can think off gets away with murder because we the consumer dont have each others back we only care that ours works, and thats bullshit, we need to all of us say "this isn't good enough!" even those whos disks work stand with your fellow live player and say something cos someday it will be you and ours will work and we'll say the same thing as you say now "WHATEVER!!!!"

I think the problem is exactly as stated on Team-Xbox: a bad batch of Halo 3 game discs.  A guy claims he called MS and they admitted that there was a bad batch of them discovered.  Could it be a lie?  Maybe, but is sure does explain why so many discs are stopping at the same point.

Dude, get a grip. You're way too sensitive, it's just a game. Take it back where you bought it and get another copy. These things happen, it's just a bad pressing of the game if it's the disc, nothing to do with microsoft or bungie. If it was their faults it would happen to everyone. Also, the language is uncalled for.

Have you fully read and understood what everyone else is saying?  This might help.

Spurious Correlation - In statistics, a spurious relationship (or, sometimes, spurious correlation) is a mathematical relationship in which two occurrences have no causal connection, yet it may be inferred that they do, due to a certain third, unseen factor (referred to as a "confounding factor" or "lurking variable"). The spurious relationship gives an impression of a worthy link between two groups that is invalid when objectively examined. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spurious_relationship  and my background wink.gif)

This is basically what is at fault here.  People THINK it is the game, but it is really the extended use causing a "breaking" system to fully break from heat.  This is similar to what has already been known on other games.  If it was a REAL concern, we'd see something like 50% of users with the problem.  I see 22 pages in a forum where 1.5 million copies were sold on launch day.  I'm sorry but .01% with problems or whatever it might be tells me it is NOT the disks regardless of your personal problems and regardless of it not happening with other games.

So whatever you may think, it isn't the game, it is your 360.

It is overly dramatic,as you know when you wrote it,it is also overly insensitive and overly imbecilic how could you even think about writing some drivel like this? Flame bait? Are you honestly comparing a percentage of consumer electronics failures to things that happened in Germany in 1939?

Maybe you need to take a deep breath and go outside and realize that video games are just that, games.

My copy works flawlessly I have a Toshiba-Samsung drive and my 360 was manufactured in March of '06.

The main thing wrong with this entire post is that you blame Microsoft entirely!  Its honestly not there fault.  Did they press the discs themselves?  No, they pay another company to do so.  Who you might ask?  I dont know, go look it up yourself.

Look at it this way.  If you were a business, and you sold products, but they were manufactured by a middle company before being sent out to customers.  A problem arises in the product.  Who would you blame?  The company that designed it, or the company that manufactured it?  You wouldn't your customers to come and blame you for a problem you had no control over, right?  Same thing with Microsoft.  They cant control the fact that there was a bad press of discs, they dont even press them in Microsoft!! They are done by some other company!

Id like to also question how you come about getting 5 Halo 3 discs though, have you honestly gone to the store 5 times within 3-4 days?

Anyway, just wait a week (or until Tuesday).  Stores restock every Tuesday, and thats also why games usually always release on Tuesdays.  So by then you should be able to get a Halo 3 disc that is good.

At the end of the day, its just a game dude.  Chill out.  That post makes it sound like video games are a main structure of your life (yea they are awesome and I have been playing since I was 7 years old, but come on, to get this rallied up about a game is too much!).
