Things like this knock us gamers down another level towards the WoW crowds.

Just have good commercials and show athletes & celebrities who play Halo. Heck, just show the damn game and it will sell. No need to be corny with this garbage.

This has to be one of the most strangest advertising campaigns ever, surely the majority of people buying Halo 3 will be followers of, if not familiar with the Halo series?

I think it's counting down to 12:00 AM Pacific Time on Thursday, June 21.

The seconds and minutes start counting down from 113, but it's in weird intervals, so it's still 60.

IPB Image

There are only two other numbers to the left of seconds and minutes, so I have to assume they're hours and days.

As we know..Bungie's number is 777......the numbers are counting down in Base 7 (instead of the standard base 10 we normally use).  032base7 would be 23 in base10, but because we are dealing with time, we also count the 0, meaning 24 hours total can be counted with this method.  Also, 113base7 is 59base10, and add the 0, you get your 60 seconds/minutes.  At 11:00AM CST today, the seconds were counting down on a one-one ratio...we now pass 60 seconds on the counter at 15/16 seconds real-life.

If my theory here is right...we have 13 hours to go, which would put it at 08:45AM CST June 18.   Any more thoughts on this would be apperciated.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWN!!!    sleeping.gif

Thinking about it for a sec... Isn't these viral campaigns supposed to be secretive, dig-for-info kinda stuff? What's the point of MS announcing they have just launched a viral campaign? Ughhh...

Maybe it's just me, but life was so simple back then...

Now down to 000 016 034 020.

Should be done in about 2 hours, wonder if it does anything else if it reaches 0, or just waits there?

It's interesting to see the two main reactions to this. The first wave of people to respond quickly and vocally let out a collective "meh", and for a while it seemed as if this viral ad had failed to grab the target audience.

Then the wild guessers came, turning a news post into their own personal guessing ground. "Maybe it takes place at 6:77 (7:17) on 7/7/07 on a Boeing 777".

ilovebees was a great concept, and I see why they're doing it again. It certainly does raise awareness of the game (is such a thing possible for a game like Halo?) for a minimal of cost. Plus, they don't insult my intelligence by acting like a 12 year old and telling me how totally teh awesome it gona be when J get his psp.

Honestly, I don't see a downside to this campaign for anyone (Except for people that can't stand to see anyone having fun if they're not. ie, people that hate achievements)

the clock just stopped at midnight, it reads 000 000 000 000 but if u reload the page, the clock doesnt move and stays at 000 032 113 030

i had 1 clock running then after a couple of hours, opened up another page and started the clock running on that too. the second clock went faster than the first one, it was counting down to midnight...
