WOW, Gamestop suckered 4 million people into reserving a game that will be easy to get.  Amazing how stupid people are to believe that it will be hard to get.  Games dont really go hard to find.  They are easily mass produced these days.  Hardware, well thats a different story.

"the game will have driven Microsoft's Xbox division to its first profitable quarter ever."

now what are they gonna use for that huge tax write off?

They didnt make a profit the quarter that Halo 2 came out?

"Halo 2 broke entertainment retail records, raking in $125 million in sales and selling 2.4 million units in its first 24 hours on store shelves."
"Halo 2 has generated more money on day one than any movie in box office history including Spider-Man 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and The Matrix Reloaded"

basing things off of how many people have 360s right now, hah.  i know like 10 people right off the top of my head who are going to get a 360 near the time of halo 3's release.  that and a lot of people other than the 4 mil already are going to get the game... one of those people being me.

Not necessarily... as someone who collects limited and special editions games it can be difficult to find them if you don't pre-order.

I almost missed out on getting GoW on release day because I didn't pre-order it. I went to 7 differen't stores before I found one that had 1 LE copy left.

Obviously some area easier then others: you can still find PDZ LE today pretty easily.

But I've yet to find a copy of Rainbow Six Vegas LE since I neglected to get it on release day. Similarly an LE copy of Counterstrike for the Xbox 1 might as well be a myth.

I have two pre-orders for Halo 3... because I'll be damned if I don't get the legendary edition.... I really have no interest in anything it offers but it will make a nice addition to my LE collection.

Besides I don't even have to pay for it. My GF's boss is a gamer and pre-orders all the high profile titles for the gamers in his office... he basically pre ordered legendary editions for everyone on his staff smile.gif (I still did my own pre-order just to be safe)

What store is that... Gamestop and EB games usually just tell me to come back in another week or two... they've F-ed me over so many frigging times it's not even funny.

usually i would agree with you, but it may be different with halo 3 in some areas.  i usually pre-order just for convenience, i walk in when the game is released and walk out, easy.  however when i pre-ordered my copy of halo 3 a couple of weeks ago, i was warned that i may not be able to get a copy on day 1 because they already had around 300 pre-orders in that store alone.  i didnt believe it until i saw the book of halo  pre-orders and i find it hard to believe that MS will provide copies for even half of the pre-orders in that store.

im not worried it's only one store and im sure i'll be able to just walk into a walmart and pick up a copy if i need to, but that goes against my needs for convenience since i didnt pre-order early enough.

I pre ordered halo 2 at target last year and when I went to pick it up they had at least 100 copies of the game sitting there.  I will just walk in and buy it this year.  No more pre ordering.

I hadn't heard about the free thing either.  When I preordered Gears of War from gamestop, it wasn't there on release day (their fedex was 1 day late) and they credited me $5.

First,  Target takes pre-orders?

Second, You preordered Halo 2 last year?  I hope your talking about the vista version, cause if your talking about the xbox version I know why they had at least 100

Doesn't hurt to preorder, you are putting money towards your game. It doesn't cost extra or anything like that and this way you have a better chance of picking it up on day 1 of the release. sleep.gif Well my gf already paid for the whole thing, so now i just have to walk in pick it up!!GOD I LOVE HER!! biggrin.gif  wub.gif

I agree I can think of at least 5 people who will buy a 360 just b/c of Halo3.  For those waiting on a price cut, you'll be waiting until Halo3 sales calm down, it would be crazy for M$ to lower the price when their biggest cash cow is about to hit stores.
