as they are so many posts i havent stumbled across this yet, could we humans be the forerunners

evidence:

in halo 2, regret lands on earth and cortana says that regret didnt know we were here.

The forerunners are said to of all died because of the halo's, did a few escape to earth and thus create us?

in halo 3 the huge forerunner momument thingy opens on the trailers, which is a forerunner artifact too

im not a huge halo fanboy so i wudnt appretiate everyone slaggin me off while im giving an idea plz!
