pre-alpha or alpha... I could give a crap.  The game looks weak.  It's gonna be a Halo 2 with Brutes.  Same old stuff - a bunch of Brutes mobbing you and rainbow lazer beams flying all over.  I hope it at a minimum keeps me busy before another real next-gen game comes out like GOW 2. happy.gif

and when will regular plain-jane xbox Live service stop? (ever?)

im not going to pay for a x360, im happy with halo 2

Interesting... in the first part you mention that you're waiting on the halo2 maps that incidentally are coming out next year (not this month), then in your final statement you say you're not getting a 360 you're happy with halo2.
Did you know the maps you speak of are a 360 exclusive?

Gee that's not half a cop out, why don't you just say "It's going to be same old stuff seeing the game from inside chief's helmet, gun on the bottom of your screen with an amo count".  If you want real next gen go buy a wii, but to be honest next gen doesn't seem that interesting to me.

Fair enough man.  The wii doesn't interest me a bit either though.  I'll get right to the point.   I want spectacular graphics that push the limits of the machine, decent control, and awesome framerate/smoothness of character motions.

Bottom line?  I throw a game like Rainbow Six Vegas in the 360 and the wife says...  "looks like regular xbox."  You're absolutely right dear.

*Remove game and put in GOW*

Wife says, "Whoa, that game is awesome!  So much detail?!  This is the game for the 360 huh?"   Yep.  Everything up until this was just recycled xbox 1 crap.

Please don't confuse my next-gen reference with wii controller B.S.   I want graphics and gameplay on the next level as delivered by Epic in November!

I don't know how people can be disappointed about a short video of a game that isn't even finished yet. It was just a small teaser about the brutes and how they are going to change in the next release of Halo. I thought the armour was awsome. Overall I was thought the video was great and it made me look forward to playing the game even more.

Remember all the short web features they had all the time leading up to the release of the new Star Wars movies. Same thing here, unfinished graphics and behind the scenes stuff. Your not really going to know what it's like until it comes out.

I think its obvious that the game is not done, notice there were many videos of models doing various animations and not much actual gameplay. So to all that says "H3 lacks next gen graphics" just wait and see the final product instead of bitching about a sneak-peak.
Think about it. Its fuckin BUN-JIE, they wont let their best selling franchise go to hell that easy.

After watching I can honestly say I am getting less excited.  Who exactly buys Halo now just for the single player anyways though?  I don't get their strategy giving up this type of stuff when the name alone builds the hype.  Yes I understand the graphics aren't near what they will be, but that doesn't mean its nice to look at.  The animations look great too and I get that, but look at the responses.  This type of video released today does more harm than good.

Am I the only one hoping the Elites double cross the chief?  Like already mentioned it won't be the same not fighting the Elites.  Yea the Brutes are much more improved, but at what cost?

I love halo and the franchise, the background textures weren't all that grand but I think the character models look pretty good.

I Love the Campaign, I played halo 2 all the way through loving every minute before I even moved the cursor to select Live. I don't just play halo for the shooting I play for the story that goes along with it. You know the multiplayer is going to be good, MM is the best MP on the market.

All I want is just some big outdoor levels like H1. I for one am actually excited that they are spending so much time on the story mode. And I would sacrifice graphics any day to make sure it ran smooth. I preordered my Legendary set and will stand in line to get it on the first night.

Bungie isnt going to let the series end on a sour note, the fact that it looks that sharp a year out is amazing. Didn't the documentary from the H2 collectors edition say that they only did the polishing like the last few months before launch? if it looks this far along now, the actual game is going to be quite alright.

As for the people that hate fighting as the elites, when you read the books you lose that kinda attitude. Ya I love playing as the chief, but the elites are a good second.

H3 has its head on straight, and I can't wait.

Looks like halo 2 on steroids.

The thing that stuck out to me, that was not changed from halo 2, and of which i do no like are:

1) The Field of View is still the same as halo 2's reduced 70*.  I hated the blinder type tunnel vision of halo 2.  I was really hoping that it would go back to halo 1's 90*.  Damn, damn, damn! grr.gif

2) The aiming recticle is the same as halo 2's; not in the middle of the screen, but too low.

Personally I think releasing this video was a brilliant move.  Everyone who thought halo 3 would suck now has some narrow-minded satisfaction, and even those who were expecting great things are probably expecting less now.  Fact is, Halo 3 has a LOT of hype, and this video will reduce it quite a lot so that when the actual game does come out, it surprises people.  Much better to release a game better than people expect than to release one that doesn't live up to its hype.

You guys who are complaining are probably too young to understand what WIP means, but nonetheless, I think the ViDoc was a great thing for them to release and it got me a little more excited about the game. Some of you are like "OMG, GFX" and not so focused on the game itself. Whatever, my 0.02.

I agree. no one is really doing any research when it comes to these bungie releases. I think it's funny all the hype about how shitty something looks or whatever, but if you played halo 2 there was a large part of halo 2 footage in the vi-doc. Halo 3 was shown in game at E3, and we will be seing that same quality, has everyone forgotten that?

people don't seem to get it...GOW and halo 3 are NOT the same type of game. they're different universes completely. i agree completely that GOW was a beautiful game (actually i think rainbow 6 vegas was pretty damn nice too), but the architecture and types of buildigns were a big part of that. halo doesn't feature the same sort of human architecture, which is why its less detailed, and (go figure) doesn't look teh same! not to mention that the fact alone that GOW is 3rd person, and your constantly taking cover makes it easier to see and appreciate the graphics of the environment. in halo 2, i know i defintely was not worried abou how detailed the room i was in was, or which pretty block i can duck behind, i was too busy looking for ammo and better weapons. thats the type of games they are, halo is a run and gun game, where as GOW is not.

Bungie has answered some questions over on their site here are a few that many people are bitching about.
QUOTE
. Hay guys! What the hell is up with these graphics?

The graphics you see in the Vidoc are a mixture of things. For one thing, they’re months old. We started creating that doc quite a while back. You’ll see some near final models, some rough character rigs, placeholder lighting and a lot of “sandbox” locations. These are basically spaces that the designers, animators and artists place their models to play around with them.
That’s one reason why there are so many scenes of big empty rooms with crates in them. There certainly are some scenes from the game in there, but alas, none properly lit, textured or populated (yet). That’s why we call it a work in progress. If you’re looking for the final look of Halo 3 campaign, it’s not in there, except in the briefest of hints.

Not only are theses graphics months old they are not even beta grade.

QUOTE
3. Brutes! Does this mean I will only be fighting Brutes in the next game?

Not at all. The Covenant society has changed since Halo 2 – a civil war between the Elites and the Prophets has caused a deep schism. But Covenant politics are deep and dark and you will fight a wide assortment of villainy. As you saw in the doc, there’s a scene where Grunts are fighting alongside Brutes. Plainly then, the idea that the Covenant has split in cleanly definable ways, is out the window. It’s a religious society and one where passions and faith far outweigh any other consideration. The reason there are so many Brutes in the doc, is that it’s a doc about Brutes…

QUOTE
4. We saw some new weapons! What gives!?

Naturally there will be new weapons in the game. You certainly saw the Brute Spike Rifle being used, and hammers. As for the other snippets in there, you’ll have to wait and see. Put it this way, not everything will be recognizable in the final game.

Stop bitching and know that the game is going to be awesome. and heres the link to the actual bungie site article  http://www.bungie.ne...y.aspx?cid=9340

The game will be out in a year and all you saw was the game in development. That's not even close to the finish product so stop judging.

Dont give me that, It will be out in 3 months. Its going to suck. Halo 2 with different maps and people. Nuff said.
