I was playing the campain earlier today (for memories) and im still stumped about the gravemind... What the hell put "it" there and why?

so I take it he's the "queen" so to speak of the flood. I'm just interested in what is job is in Halo 3. I hope he pops out for an awesome boss fight. Imagine having to cut off/shoot his tenticals to get to his body while he's shooting out millions of infection forms. Woot.

"It's" definitley in halo3 no doubt. Now fighting it would be the last thing i would want to do in my life, shooting each and every tenticle only for it to be paralized for like 3 sec then its tenticles respawn and the process repeats.... nope not me. I be he bites too

Gravemind is a Flood intelligence, and seems to have command over the Flood. As for why he exists... the theory would be too lengthy for me to elaborate.

How about this: Gravemind IS a forerunner and the rings were built as homes/time travel devices for them that can destroy the universe if activated in unison.

Why would they want to kill themselves? Maybe the gravemind is the last forerunner? So many questions....

Now, I'm not super accurate with my Halo storyline facts, but I had always assumed that the Gravemind was the original flood. The first to mutate or be infected. The father of all the flood and the source of the disease. I'd bet money that he gets a sweet boss battle in H3.

He says something like "I am a testament to your sins" that would lead me to believe that the forerunners were messing with medicine in trying to sustain life or something like that, and the experiment went wrong and that is how the flood were made (almost like a zombie type thing).

I know that is all theory, but what else does he mean by testament to our sins.

I don't mean to slam you theory because it's a very good theory. I am just intending to answer your question "but what else does he mean by testament to our sins."

He could mean anything by that... lol. He was also speaking to MC and Arbiter. It remains to be seen what the two have in common but since the statement was made to them both it has to be something common. As far as I know MC is not covenant

Regardless even if that were not the case a testament to your sins could seriously relate to anything honestly.
