its a 4 shot kill with the br...

and they wanted halo2 to be more realistic physics wise and choose to give mc certain new abilities, thats why it feels "so different" (which i dont agree with btw... i find them to be very similar).. watch the halo2 behind the scenes disk and youll see why the physics are a bit different... not to spoil it, but it has a little something to do with most of the team not knowing anything about physics for the first one....

First of all, more realism does not always = more fun.  Case in point, halo 2.

Second, i have watched the 'behind the scene' disk.....one where they go and train with real military guns and such.  I agree some aspects of the bullet physics is more 'realistic' in halo 2, but not all.  I am an avid hunter that uses rifles and pistols.  No matter what gun you use, if something is at least 50 yards away, and moving at more then a walk, you have to lead them.  There is no 'leading' in halo 2, as there was in halo 1.  This 'bullet physics' required a lot more skill.  I do agree that some of the closer distance leading was excessive in halo 1, but overall it was/felt more realistic, fun, and more skill involving.

Hell just give me a human gun that has single round bursts....a single bullet....like the halo 1 pistol (i hate the 3 round burst with the BR) that can kill in at least 4 shots, in halo 3, and i'll be happy.  Oh, and increase the MF$@&% Field of View back to 90 degrees!

They lost the right to the engine when one of the dudes at bungie left. He made Stubbs the Zombie with the halo 1 engine.

The other original co-owner of bungie left with half of the bungie team with him.  Although i though that the current bungie team still had the rights/permission to use the halo engine.

i was referring to the driving physics which are described as 'bouncy' in halo1... and i never found that you needed to lead in halo1: when h2 came out and everyone was complaining about that, i did a side by side and there was no need to lead in h1... it was done with running targets being sniped across bg... no leading necessary...

I just hope the weapons are balanced like they were in Halo 2 after that v1.1 .  The BR became the ultimate pu$$y weapon(the equivalence to halo 1 pistol which i liked much better) Everything just got messed up from the gameplay that it was online.

Well....you must have played a differnt halo 1 then I, because in sys-link games i had to lead both with the sniper and pistol when someone was running aross the map perpendicular to me, or else i missed them by firing behind them.

Well then, i like the fault. laugh.gif

Either way, you have to lead objects in real life shooting when they are moving at a decent speed.

Halo 2 was a horrid noob fest before the patch.  With the patch it made halo 2 online at least tolerable (BR and melee could take out the noob duel-wielding 'spray and pray').

im not saying it isnt neat, or realistic... just that i never noticed it much at all and i used to go to tons of lans... maybe i was just used to the 'feature', but you def dont have to lead on one box...

With system link, if you are not playing on the host xbox you will get a little bit of lag.  I bet that is why you have to lead your shots.

True, but i still had to lead when i hosted on LAN or xbc.

Halo 1 took more skill like when you had to lead your gun ahead to shoot someone.

I never liked the original assault rifle. The pistol was cool, but then dual pistols in H2 was heaps better, especially when u knew how to use em, like wink.gif

The BR is good i reckon, especially for headshots.

I have to say that the Battle Rifle is my least favorite weapon in H2. Mostly because I suck using it. Probably why I have topped out at a 13 on Live. Because I getting getting dropped into BR on Accension(sp?) and getting creamed. So if it went away in Halo 3 I would not miss it. Ahh battle rifle, I hardly knew ya.

I do agree that Halo 2 in the beginning on Live was a huge SNAFU. Dual welding children that would fire 2000 shots in a single game to 25. I used to play Halo 2 every week with my brother-in-laws on Live, but we have recently switche to COD2 which takes a lot more "skill" than H2.  I know they are based on two entirely different aspects but it just controled better.

4shot kill? all you pistol players cry wahhh i want mega pistol yet cant aim for the head with a BR for a 2-3shot kill rolleyes.gif

But it's a hell of a lot easier to get a 4sk (3 to body, and one to head) with the br then a 3sk (two to body, and one to head) with the pistol, because of the rediculously increased auto-aim, and hit-box.  But then again more auto-aim and hit box = more fun. smile.gif

Pistol in halo one, side stepping and not rotating in order to take advantage of the auto-aim. You pull the trigger and that fucker goes down in 3 to 4 shots even at a long distance. With the sniper rifle you could zoom in once and then sidestep and get a head shot every time - even over lan and xbc. It worked for almost the entire length of Blood Gulch (Coagulation in Halo 2).

So definitely better than the pistol in Halo 2. That thing is so inaccurate!
