On Bungie's FAQ for Halo 3, it says that Halo fans will recognize an easter egg in the video.   i watched it a few times and I noticed that the assault rifle he is holding is from the original, not Halo 2......interesting.  What could have happened?  I don't think it could be a prequel because Cortana is still f'ed up and the technology looks way too new to be older than Halo 1.

Anyone else find another easter egg?

I wouldnt really consider that an easter egg. And the easter egg theyre talking about (I think) is the Grunt Crossing sign flapping in the wind on the ground.

I wouldn't be supprised if online gaming was affected.

I would THINK content and gaming would be handled on physically different servers for cases just like this.

Why are you guys all, like, drooling?
I mean, c'mon, it's a trailer.  Will the game look like that?
Remember the Halo 2 Trailer?  Straight CG, nothing in the game looked like that.  Except the one cutscene.

I'll believe the hype (oh, I know it's coming) when I see some gameplay.
Until then, I set my sights low for this and all other games, as it is much easier to be amazed when the sights are set low.

Expect less, then you will always be satisfied with an outcome.

On ign.com, it says that the video was done directly through the 360.  That probably is a cutscene, but it was done directly through the 360.

I think the Halo and Halo 2 cutscenes looked pretty good, granted not stunning, but good.  And some were rendered with the game's engine, not all, but some.  And Halo and Halo 2 didn't look as good as those cutscenes.  Scripted scenes will always look better than in-game.
Nice, though, that it was done by the 360 and not just a movie. biggrin.gif

We next met with Marcus Lehto, Bungie's art director, who filled us in on the technology as he gave us a fly through of the locations in the trailer. The crater seen in the trailer is three miles across, and it's all rendered in real geometry. Halo 3 has a new global lighting system that now lights everything uniquely from the same source, which explains just how that setting sun looked that good as it illuminated everything in the trailer. Halo 2, on the other hand, used a lighting system that lit everything separately. Meanwhile, parallax mapping is able to give depth to structures in the distance, such as the clouds above the crater. A new particle system offers different levels of light diffusion to take the quality of the atmosphere into account, and that makes for different layers of light.

The demo shifted away from the crater to the part of the level you see the Master Chief walking in from. He was controllable, which means that the trailer indicates just how good the game will look. Lehto was able to zoom in on the Master Chief with the camera, and you could see the many different ways light reflected objects onto him. For example, you could see light reflect off the ground and onto his armor. A new materials system shows the difference between his armor and the rubber undersuit. It's so detailed that if you bring the camera close to the Master Chief's visor, you see everything in front of him reflected in it, right down to the ammo counter in his rifle.

yep. that's a must have. really a no-brainer. I look forward to seeing the assault rifle and hopefully the old school pistol too. there's a lot of things that halo COULD do, I really hope that there is REAL combat going down on Earth, not the minimalist crap in halo2's single player. I'm sure the multiplayer will be unreal.

thers alot of good games coming out between march 2007 and now.many many other good games.
halo 1 was great because on a console  no one had ever combined vehicles(ie 2 man team vehicles),good story and a fuckin crazy atmosphere.

our good friend billy is going to suck this dick until the cum packet comes out,and the profit he gets from this game will make him be able to wipe his ass with 1000 dollar bills instead of 100.

But seriously bac to the point.Halo 2 had a very very shitty campaign,i was expecting alot more and being it that really only games i buy are ones with co op(more than a few levels), and good multiplayer. As somebody in this thread sed before i myself i wasnt so pleased with halo 2 compared to the first, and i still wasted countless hours on this because agian no other game could compare for the semi freshness of the same levels this game could present each different day i would play.

Most likely everybody who owns a 360 is going to be the flagship game, the game that has the most ,effort, story and money behind it especially when compared to anything called software in this console industry. But this time i wanna see something better than graphics,Ya i have an hd tv specifically for video games.i watch tv but tv has been shit since the early 90's and video games are a better way at spending that time.fuck reality tv,if i want reality tv im download some clips off of ogrish of our boys kickin ass in that fuckin desert shitstain they call iraq.

but anyway back to the point.bungie knows everybody is going to buy this game, the market being ther, the demand is not the problem, i am starting to think if they didnt postpone halo next for the next gen console and gave us a shitty version of waht was to be.just as the first halo was very revolutionary i want the same thing with this bastard.Just as battlefield did when it came out,it had revolutionary gameplay, lets see what these geniouses can turn up. like i said in this paragraph i really wonder whether or not  the development team purposely put off another halo game for the fact of it being more powerfull and to be able to sustain lots of shit going down(ie 32 man play, and all the vehicles, hopefully a pelican)

in the ends of it all, i am no fanboy for anyone kind of game(thers many that are good but none that should take dedication of time like a religion or philosphy), i also know what i like, and plain and simple i wanna see what I fuckin like, lets see the good shit, lets see...... the end

and oh yes im fuckin ready

I expect Halo 3 to keep the tradition going.
People will buy it, love it, and the haters will continue to hate it pop.gif

A single player as good as halo, a multiplayer as good as halo 2.

Not much to ask.
