That's your opinion Chancer.  If Halo 3 was out already, I would own a 360.  At this present time I'm not compelled.  I try out and play lots of different games, but I alwasy end up going back to Halo for the most fun - FOR ME.  If it's not your thing fine.  If you want to call it hype, that's fine too.  We'll see how much of a reality that hype is when it's released and when # of copies sold is released.  Or how many tickets the Halo movie sells at the box office.  

People can knock the Halo phenomenom if they want, but it's a moot point.  Do to the number of people that love playing halo, you'll only seem to be hating on it.

im sorry, but i dont get the hype. i also dont get how halo is so popular, really.
honestly, when i see someone on my buddy list playing halo, i usually remove them, thats how much i despise halo 2.

dont get me wrong, i liked halo 1, even liked playing it system link, but something about halo 2 brought on a bunch of whiney, yelling, annoying gamers that i couldnt stand to play with, even playing with people on my friends list got boring fast.

anyways... i might rent it for single player, but i sure as hell wont be out in the cold on launch night like i did when i bought the hype for halo 2.

I realise that many people like Halo and will love Halo 3. I also realise MS will do what it does best and release special editions  of the 360 bundled with halo 3 stuff and the game. Of course they will milk it.
They also will realise that whilst this will be a massive seller for them you can not forget the thousands and thousands of people who will not buy it, but still have a 360 and will want other types of release.
CrystalXBOX the difference between you and I (apart from we probably like different types of game) is that i realise although halo is not for me (yes I have both) I do realise its a massive draw. This does not worry or offend me YET if someone states a dislike for Halo you immediately call them a hater. You seem unable to understand that someone could dislike Halo as if it were a crime. I would expect you to hate most of the games I like but how crap would the gaming world be if everyone had to like halo or be looked upon as "Weird"

The bit that really becomes boring is when people start with loads of the what will apppear in halo 3 threads and start second guessing scenarios  and then there will be the "Secret Inside knowledge threads".Nearer relaease time fair enough or when something is released to discuss but please not over a year before.

Your loss man but Halo fans are anticipating Halo 3 like nothing else.
H3 is going to be big no doubt and we (we as in Halo fans) know cats like you who didn't like Halo 2 for what ever reason, will also hate Halo 3 in advance. So no surprise there....

I agree tthis much, the Xbox name is much more than Halo.

There has to become a point where people have to understand the difference between a sucessful franchise, such as Halo 2, and "MILKING IT".  You give them what they want.

Also.  I'm a very flexible and open-minded person.  In fact, I have NEVER told someone they were or the game they were playing was stupid, even if I thought it was.  So there's no arguement on any of that.  You won't find me in any gaming threads putting down a game, unless it was a game I play and was trying to be constructive.  Which leads me to the last thing.

Why even enter a Halo thread if you don't care about it.  I mean there are lots of things I don't like, and I guess I could find forums to go post my dislike for that product, but why?  I think a release date for Halo 3 is something only to rejoice, as do all other halo fans.  So why bother making "oh boy" or "here we go" statements.

I think March is optimistic, with the way things get pushed back and what not.  Truth is, I don't care how long it takes to come out, just long as it comes out.  And when they have the halo bundle and faceplate, etc.etc.  Then you will see me buying a 360.  Till then, I am thouroughly enjoying my current box.

Me I am not a Halo fan but I may love the new Halo when/if it arrives. It may have something different that catches my eye. I will make my mind up when I see trailers or play a demo.
No matter how good a game is (any game) its not justification for buying a console for one game.

Yes, yes, exactly! I loved Halo. Playing system link Halo was the best because my friends and I would sit around, drink and talk trash to each other, but it was great because everybody knew each other, and no one whined and cried when they lost. And none of us lost our cool to the point of using racially or sexually derogative remarks. Halo 2 lost all the magic that Halo had.

I wouldn't do it, but I can totally understand how you'd remove someone from your friend list for playing Halo 2. LOL

I can't believe so many people believe the hype still. I remember in Nov/Dec 2002 (that was around the same time I discovered xbox-scene), I first heard about Halo 2 being released for the 2003 holiday season. Same thing goes for a lot of games (Fable, Starcraft: Ghost, etc.). There's no point in getting all worked up over release dates.

I'll tell you guys what, though: I wouldn't be heartbroken if Bungie filed for bankruptcy, and Halo 3 was never released.

Heh, heh. Do you remember the guy that posted the script for Halo 3 that he had written? It was about a year ago if I remember correctly. The thing was littered with spelling and grammatical errors. It looked like something that an adolescent who is terrible in English class would write. But, yeah, like you said, that's when things get ridiculous around here.

I never said only people who adore Halo should enter, but it is kind of hipocritical to say everyone is entitled to their opinion, when your basically blasting me or those who want to buy a 360 just for Halo 3, trailer or no trailer.  I thought we are all entitled to our opinions?  

Furthermore, anticipation of games is what makes us buy any console.  I mean, when the 360 came out and you decided to get one, it's because you just had to have Perfect Dark, or PGR3, etc?  Because those games are so much more superior than any game you have ever played or better than any game made on the original XBOX.  You bought it just to get it and play new games.  Well i'll get mine to try out new games too.  Starting with Halo 3.  If it's total crap, I'll sell my copy on eBay and move on!

Now to anyone who actually cares for Halo, can we find anymore news sources or comments about this?  I know there won't be anything official for awhile, but how reliable is this information?

As you were one of the ones that got the halo2 hacking section shut down in the first place I would keep quiet. A lot of people here liked that section till the pirates and cheaters spoiled it.
