Next Halo Hits March 2007-- Posted by XanTium on March 31 10:54 EST
From xbox360.ign.com:

Quote

The next Halo is coming in March 2007. According to a Microsoft source who asked to remain anonymous and a second source close to the company, IGN today learned that Microsoft will publish the next Halo game (as predicted in January) in March 2007.

When phoned, Microsoft declined to comment. While the holiday season remains the most important set of months to publish a game, the first calendar quarter of the year is proving to be bigger and more prominent in sales. Microsoft intends to innovate, challenge traditions, and to use its own "playbook" (as Microsoft's J Allard has said time and again), and slotting Halo 3 (or Halo Forerunners, or whatever April Fool's gag you choose) in March 2007 is likely to shift consumers' priorities. That anticipation will overlap with the first few months of Sony's and Nintendo's launches, cutting into their building stages, and shifting eyes toward and opening wallets for Xbox 360.

Interesting.  isn't there going to be more than 3 halo games?  I coulda sworn I read somewhere that the next halo isn't halo 3 but liek a prequel of some type?  I don't know probably wrong.

Yeah, I'm going to have to declare shenanagins on this. Doesn't anyone remember how much speculation and other BS came about from Halo 2? I'll trust a date when Bungie gives us one... anonymous sources "close to the source" usually end up being some 13 year old saying their dad works for the company.

im not sure, if m$ refused to give information, and two sources saying the same time... could be real.

the prequel thing might be not real though, what would the story line be? the first halo/covenant/flood they came in contact with was the first game.

one year. i'm not sure i can wait that long. if it's gonna be good though, and no teaser ending like the second, i think i'll manange the time.

It's funny that they just assume that Halo 3 will be the game that sets X360 apart. Talk about major marketing on M$ part. Wonder how much they paid off people to say that. I don't look forward to Halo 3. Halo 2 was a major let down. FF XI sure has got my attention for the most part. But I will surely not pay $400 + $50 + $70 + on going XBL fees just for 1 game. M$ has some work to do. -.-

Tomorrow is April 1st, but this doesn't sound too much like a joke.  If it is, its pretty sad.  Like they said in the article, they predicted its release earlier to be around the same time.  This is barely news worthy, as a game being a year from done will only be a prediction anyway.  Maybe theres a halo spin off or whatnot coming at some point, but I don't see any way a company like MS ($) would let the core team spend anytime developing anything other than Halo 3.

Edit: I'd wager that a majority of current and future xbox360 owners are looking forward to halo 3 more than any other game.  And that the vast majority will buy it if it turns out great (it will).  If FF XI is your most anticipated game for 360 then I'd have to say that the xbox360 isn't and probably never will be for you (ps2/ps3/pc).

The good thing about this news is it should shut up the halo addicts, they'll either be greatful, or whine for maybe a week tops, but after that they'll shut up and wait until e3.

...So those of us patient enough to not care when halo 3 comes out, and those who don't like halo games, won't have to listen to all these fools speculate and pretend like it will come up this summer.

...But the same annoying drama will start up again after the game gets delayed wink.gif

The Halo 3 marketing campaign hasn't even started (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Personally, I like the Halo series so much that I would pay over $600 just to continue playing it.
But that's just me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm not really sure what your post was in response to but there was really no need for you to pre-order a game that comes out a year from now. A lot of people pre-ordered halo 2 but everywhere I looked were copies of the game so don't believe the hype. As far as I'm concerned EB/Gamestop are just a bunch of scammers.

I really hope we are not going to go through the whole 360 is the mutts Nutts because of Halo 3 syndrome again.
Sometimes with the original Xbox I wondered if some people knew other games existed.
Give it a week and this section will be full of hype and speculation about the game.
The 360 will have better games signed to it than Halo 3 I am sure.
The halo stuff is good if you like that but the Xbox is not just born and bred for the Halo series.
I hope there is not going to be movie speculation next.
I know halo 3 will become reality but its a long way away yet so over hype and excitement may be premature
