Bah.... while I agree that Halo 3 is gonna kick @SS it wont stop Sony sales.  And it's really too bad because I remember all the hype for that piece of crap they called a PS2 and it was nothing more then a glorified PS1 with DVD.  Whoopdeefreekindoo, I will be saving my money and buying games for my 360 and maybe a Revolution, but I'd rather drink strait gasoline then ever spend a dime on a gaystation and hopefully everyone else will be smarter with their money too.  (This is from a former gaystation 1 and 2 owner) Mark my words.... PS3 will be dissapointing, and if I am wrong I will be shocked.

we havn't even seen screenshots of halo 3.... and ps3 said the soonest is november release I still see it happening spring of 07 at least in US.....

I don't see halo 3 hurting ps3 sales if released at the same time....

if halo 3 and other great games was released for the xbox 360 before the ps3 that will hurt more and get parents to buy thier children the xbox 360.....

its foolish to think that the mass of video game and console sales are individuals when I think its parents or families that say over and over again they will only own one console per generation......

The thing is most household won't buy both.  Hardcore gamers that chat on game boards like us might consider it, but not the average gamer or gamer's parents.  I think MS would be better off releasing Halo3 before PS3 launch if they can, but I would hate to see Halo rushed to meet the date Sony is saying PS3 will be launched.  They may be saying they are launching in November to rush Halo.  I don't see PS3 launching this year.  I honestly think they are bluffing.

MS should re-release Halo 1 as a budget title on a hybrid disc that works on the xbox 1 and 360 with full live support and up to 32 players.  With some new maps based on the PC games expansion packs.

A nice little sideline while the Halo name is still hot.

M$ isn't going after Sony zombies so I don't understand where that assumption is coming from huh.gif
Saying that Halo 3 won't steal some of the PS3's steam is jumping the gun a little early.
You cats forget that you speak for yourselves. There's plenty of people out there still on the fence, trying to decide what console to buy next. They didn't buy the Xbox 360 because they want to see what Sony and Nintendo have to offer. If Halo 3 is as big a hit as Halo 2 was, then M$ has a good chance to cash in on these "on the fence" gamers and keep them from purchasing a competitor's console.

Also, this would be a great way for M$ to counter Sony's PS3 marketing campaign.
Are you kidding me? This would make it much tougher for Sony since they're not only fighting for the spot light with Nintendo, but they will be fighting against Halo 3.
You better believe that Sony wants no part in fighting against Master Chief this Christmas, they have their hands full with Mario already....

My two cents....
PS.... I'd rather have Bungie take it's sweet time before dropping H3.
H3 would help the X360 but it doesn't NEED it. Gears of War, Too Human, and Mass Effect can easily tripple team Sony pop.gif

there is a flaw in your opinion of this.  those who get a system at launch (wait out in a line or pre-order months in advance) are not considered "on the fence" people.  they are either hardcore gamers or sony zombies, either one will get the system at launch regardless.  the "on the fence" people are the ones who get systems after launch when the hype/demand slows down.  anyone here who got a 360 at launch can be considered a hardcore gamer or fanboy so its all relative.

i do agree however that nintendo releasing around/before the ps3 launch would effect the ps3 launch far more then any game MS could launch.

Considering that MGS4 is one of the major PS2 selling points for some people, they're easally comparable. Different genre's but both exclusive to their console.

Ya, kind of like MGS2: substance rolleyes.gif .........Not only are they completely difference games, but you'll never see MC on a sony console, unless MS tanks, whereas solid snake has already been on the xbox and gamecube.

I thought about the "hardcore gamers" but I figured you guys would realize that they're on the same boat as the Sony fanboys as I did. Obviously, M$ isn't targeting these individuals either.

Again, releasing H3 during the PS3 launch is aimed at the "on the fence" people/gamers.
(who knows what the percentage of these gamers is, are they waiting for prices to do down or are they waiting to see what the 3 consoles have to offer? I'm willing to bet its 50/50 at the very least)
I know its hard for cats to understand this because as you said, we're hardcore gamers.

well to me there is a difference between a hardcore gamer and a sony zombie.  a hardcore gamer will more then likely buy all/most of the systems at/near launch.  however a sony zombie would buy shit wrapped in tin-foil as long as it had the sony logo on it with kenny k. saying magical words of wonder about it.

either way there are more zombies or hardcore gamers then sony can keep up with for launch, so either way they will sell out with little control from MS.  i wish it would be so easy to divert buyers but the ps3 will sell out as good if not better then the 360.

every1 who says gaylo 3, or they dont care for halo3... im not buying it at all.. you may be saying that now but once the previews/screenshots/videos/demos start coming out, you know for a fact that every1 will be hyped... but again, ms cant do anything about sonys launch. nothing will change the sales of the ps3

I'm going to have to agree with miggidy about the "on the fence" gamers comment.

while those type wont be buying a PS3 on launch day, they can certainly have access to it then enough to make a decision. They go in and see a good start to a 360 catalog and a line of crappy launch titles on the PS3, then play Halo 3 on a 360 kiosk and FantaVision 2 on a PS3 kiosk.... the decision becomes "buy a 360 right now, or wait a few months/another year to buy the PS3"

seriously if the PS3 drops in november we'll see kiosks in october and that would be more then enough for on the fencers to decide to ask for the soon to be readily available and lower priced 360 for the holidays.

I agree that it WONT effect PS3 sales one bit at launch. the PS3 will be sold out for months. What it will do is steal away more of the long term market from one console households who decided it was easier to get a 360 sooner rather then wait for a PS3 later.

Ya well im one of the hardcore gamer types got the 360 at launch. I really dont know if ill do the same for the ps3 becuase of some things!
1. I WANT TO KNO A PRICE
2. Id like to see some real gameplay footage
3. Id really love for them to change the controller design...
4 What are they going to have  game wise for launch  metal gear solid 4....isnt gonna be a launch title in my oppion
Also we cant count out nintendo with there revolution its gonna be a huge seller to alot of homes because the price will be alot more reason able to familys who dont have 500 or so bucks to spend on a system for say there sons birthday. If anyone has real amazing fanboys its nintendo...
But in the end ill get the rev and ps3.
And i have to agree with alot of you i dont think halo 3 would destroy sonys launch but i think nintendo could bring some damage so lets just wait til e3!
