M$ isn't going after Sony zombies so I don't understand where that assumption is coming from
Saying that Halo 3 won't steal some of the PS3's steam is jumping the gun a little early.
You cats forget that you speak for yourselves. There's plenty of people out there still on the fence, trying to decide what console to buy next. They didn't buy the Xbox 360 because they want to see what Sony and Nintendo have to offer.
If Halo 3 is as big a hit as Halo 2 was, then M$ has a good chance to cash in on these "on the fence" gamers and keep them from purchasing a competitor's console.
Also, this would be a great way for M$ to counter Sony's PS3 marketing campaign.
Are you kidding me? This would make it much tougher for Sony since they're not only fighting for the spot light with Nintendo, but they will be fighting against Halo 3.
You better believe that Sony wants no part in fighting against Master Chief this Christmas, they have their hands full with Mario already....
My two cents....
PS.... I'd rather have Bungie take it's sweet time before dropping H3.
H3 would help the X360 but it doesn't NEED it. Gears of War, Too Human, and Mass Effect can easily tripple team Sony

there is a flaw in your opinion of this. those who get a system at launch (wait out in a line or pre-order months in advance) are not considered "on the fence" people. they are either hardcore gamers or sony zombies, either one will get the system at launch regardless. the "on the fence" people are the ones who get systems after launch when the hype/demand slows down. anyone here who got a 360 at launch can be considered a hardcore gamer or fanboy so its all relative.
i do agree however that nintendo releasing around/before the ps3 launch would effect the ps3 launch far more then any game MS could launch.
