Here is an example. The writer of the Street Fighter movie (known as one of the worst video game to movie adaptations ever) was also the screenplay writer for Die Hard and Die Hard 2. It didnt matter that he worked on two great action films, Street Fighter still sucked.

Just because it is a movie made after a video game doesn't mean it will suck, eventhough the odds are against it.

there are some great movies based on video games (res evil 1 +2, mk, doom was pretty good, i liked mario, but not in a gaming way, they could have done the same movies without mario characters (since it wasn't related to the game in any way) and it would have still been pretty good).

 there are also some terrible game movies. just look on the bright side, its being made by peter jackson, not ewe boll or however you spell that guys name (the guy that did house of the dead 1 + 2 [yes they made a second one, i haven't seen it, but its only supposed to marginally better then the first one] and blood rayne).

I think the movie would do better if it was animated. theirs just something weird about halo if it were to have real people

When the game sucks, then yes it does mean the movie will suck.

most game to movie translations are choppy because either the game doesn't have enough of a storyline to drive the movie (tron, mario bros) or the game just doesn't work as a movie because half of the interest is in the gameplay (doom, house of the dead).

Halo on the other hand has several books written within the universe, books that are actually pretty damn good and would stand on their own without the game.

The story is good enough that they don't need to hire some guy to make up a story, the story is already in place they just need to make it happen, and with Jackson at the helm I'm sure it will come out great.

The only game to movie I could ever see being great is a Metal Gear Solid movie, but thats only because the games are already just an interactive movie

I was poking around imdb earlier and the people in the message board kept referring to him as ToiletBoll    I guess no one really likes him, how exactly is he still making movies?

I swear if he ends up making the Metal Gear Movie.... well I don't know what I'll do but it wont be pleasant

Nope, I just don't like very many FPS's(and don't like any console FPS).  Even on the PC front they havent been very good for quite some time. FEAR is the only one I have played in the past few years that was worth a damn and its mostly because of the superb AI. Half-Life 2 was only good because the source engine is a beast, but the game wasnt that great. Far Cry was the same as HL2, great engine........lackluster game. The last Unreal Tournament that was any good, was the original. The Rainbow Six games have gone downhill. Both Halo's and Killzone were just big piles of stinking shit. DOOM3 was nothing more than an over glorified techdemo/benchmark. Medal of Honor and Call of Duty series, don't even get me started, I am so sick of WWII FPS. I'm rambling..................
