according to Bungie's Weekly update, they'll have a playable demo at E3.

...of halo 3?  No, they did not say that.  If you got proof go ahead and link the article, but I read taht weekly update where he said things were coming togehter with their current project.  Now we all assume that is Halo 3, but oficially, bungie has said nothing about halo 3.

Yes with the extra time since the 360 has been out bungie has full access to all the hardware to make it use all necessary power from teh system and im sure they will push it to be one of the best games to date for the xbox.  After all, this is what we have been waiting for right, a killer halo game ran on an intense gaming system in hidef... they will not dissapoint us.

i dont think that halo 3 will make it out for the ps3 launch for many reasons.  it should be known that the unnounced project that bungie is working on right now IS NOT halo 3 and they have stated that many times, so whatever playable build of a game they have now isnt halo 3.  halo 3 hasnt even been officially announced.  Bill and other key figures of the xbox have taken back Bill's words of halo 3 being ready at the ps3 launch in the TIMES magazine, it was intended only as an example.  there is no REAL need for halo 3 to be rushed out this year as the 360 will have plenty of "killer-apps" coming out this year (oblivion, GoW, GR3, SC4, and more).  my guess is that MS will use GoW as their main weapon of choice against the ps3 when it comes to games this year as its the best looking one so far.  also i dont think that bungie will use the previous gen halo engine for halo 3 if their smart, they should use the unreal 3 engine since MS pays to license it, or atleast develop a new one specifically tailored to the 360, as long as they use an engine that allows online/LAN co-op all will be fine.  back to the question, no it wont make the deadline.

I'm not trying to be rude, but they keep saying that the game they are working on is not Halo 3, it is Pimps at Sea.

Pimps at Sea, think about that.  Sounds like a joke or one of Bungie's famed code words to me.  There is no way in hell that a game company would deliver a cliffhanger ending, and not follow up with the rest of the story.

Seriously, where do you guys get your information??? Bungie has not said that their next project is not halo 3, but they have not said that it is either.  Show me the bungie article where they say it's not and I will believe you, but the misinformation that floats around here labelled "bungie said" is ridiculous.

Well, Bungie likes to mess with our heads and create rumors.  It helps them sell games.

One thing is for sure, they are working on something tongue.gif

idk if its a good idea to release it on ps3's launch. theres advantages but put at this way.
-kid walks in to buy h3, sees a brand new system, and takes that instead. i think a new system is more appealing than a new game. idk and idc cuz im buying both. tongue.gif

i doubt that would happen if someone walks in with money to buy a game...and then sees a new system...and buys it. there is also a big cost difference between the 2...no one walks in a store determined to buy a $50-$60 game...and walks out with a $400 system hahah...but i think that would be funny if someone did do that. plan on spending $50 and end up spendin $400 ahah.

Whether he works for Bungie, MS, woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or gets owned in Halo 2 I don't know, but Tommi  please be more subtle. We're all on the edge of our seat with these rumors. And we anticipate a great "upcoming project" from Bungie.

Forgive me for being unclear in my prior post. Quote me if I was wrong, but not because I was a little bit unclear.

But... being that we all assume the next project is Halo 3, I am now going to assume it'll be at E3.

Update, he DOES get owned in H2.

I didn't mean to offend, I just didn't want someone to read that and start spreading a rumor.  I know we are all antsy for the next version of the game.

As for launching at the same time as PS3... why would someone who is going in to a store to buy a PS3 see halo 3 on the shelf and suddenly not buy a PS3... I don't see that happening.

..and as for me getting owned in halo 2... send me a friend request, we'll see who gets owned  cool.gif

Well I think MS's plan should be to have the option be

a-buy Halo 3 and Xbox360 for $x.

b-buy a PS3 without a game for $x.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a marketing gimmick of that sort.

Let me explain why launching Halo 3 with the PS3 won't have any impact on PS3 sales.

Playstation fans don't like Halo. Simple as that. There might be a few that like Halo, but if they are a playstation fan, they are still going to buy their PS3.

Rubix is the MAN! Good detective work, this sounds more credible from both fronts. I don't think PS3 is coming out anytime soon. Most consoles come out during the Christmas times and what better way to compete with PS3 than to offer Halo 3 with the B360 for the price of the console only.

Players that already owned a X360 or are going to owned one soon, already have a pre-determination on wether or not they are getting a PS3 or not, as well as those that do not own a x360 because they are faithful to PS3 and only buy from Sony. Some of us want all the toys, some of us like a particular toy and stick to it. Either way for all of us that have a X360 or getting a PS3 no matter what, MS and Sony are not all that worried about they are worried about the players that don't have all the bucs to spend on two systems and need to make a decision on which one to get. That Generation is the early teen generation where they still have to rely on Mom and Dad to get them the $ to buy it. Most of this kids will based their decision on the Games that are out there, and the parents will base it on affordability. Which in this case for MS what better way to compete against PS3 than to offer the console with a highly anticipated game H3 to be offer for the same price as PS3.

i never said that they wont fallow up the rest of the story, they will but in the weekly updates they have stated that the "unknown game" in development is not halo 3.

i would love to show you any article that says it but i am at work right now and cant access bungie's site.  i know it has been posted on their weekly update so scan through them and you will find it.  when i get home im not going to rush to prove my point as ill be too busy enjoying DoA4 but when i get around to it you will see that i dont spew BS like others.

and deftones, i agree 100%.  sony tried the same move when the DC was launched releasing FFVIII the same day and it made no impact on the DC sales as the launch was a huge sucess.  ANY company can try what they want but just like MS, sony will sell out of ps3 just as fast.  in the long run it may make a difference having a killer app of a title to take the attention away from the competition but nothing will effect a launch because those who are going to buy a ps3 will buy one no matter what.

To look a little deeper though,
the shortages for the PS3 will be as bad if not worse than it was for the 360, having the option of waiting or playing a brand new system, MS might be able to sway some Sony fanboys for the price/game.

Also, parents will see that they can't get a PS3, but they can get a 360, and many of them will buy that for their kids instead, especially if it's cheaper.  My parents would do that exact thing, thinking that it is still a brand new console.

I also have read on the Bungie site that H3 is not the game they are working on come to think of it, but I always assumed they were lying, or working on Halo in conjuction with something else, or are titling the next game Halo:X or something.

They'd be a big group of dummies if they don't continue the Halo series with their next game.

You do know that it is impossible to sway a fanboy, right?

Ummm, no. Parents will buy the Revolution since it will be much cheaper than both systems. Seeing as how they will be buying it for their kids. wink.gif
