Well I was just thinking about a comment Bill Gates made about Halo 3 being released at the same time as the PS3, and I was wondering what everyone else thought about how true it might become.

Bungie hasn't made any announcements or hints at what their next project is, and though I'm pretty sure they've been working on H3 for quite a while, I'm still unsure if they'll have enough time to finish the third Halo game, which will most likely be the last (imo)

While there is no firm ps3 release date, everything points towards spring 2006, does bungie have enough time to pump out Halo 3?

i think that there is no doubt that it wil be ready by ps3....that said it will be a shitty job.  i think that halo 1 was the best....u saw that halo 2 had slighly better graphics and multiplayer but a worse story (than halo 1).  i also remeber seeing that they had dialouge/more story but did not include it.  i think that halo 3 will have a shitty 4 hr single player campaign and a slightly beter multiplayer, but mainly just beter graphics. this is just my 2 cents, but i think it will go down like that.

That being said, there has been plenty of speculation about Halo 3 being developed in conjunction with Halo 2.  Some have said this explains the problems with H2 some have said it's rediculous to think so.

There is real evidence that the engine they were initially working on for H2 was too much for the original xbox.  My personal belief is that H3 is running off this engine, and they released H2 to sell units, and push xbox sales a year before the launch of the 360.  And they will use H3 which will be the true sequel to Halo to push 360 sales, and it will be the killer app. that we were all expecting from H2.

Actually if the PS3 even makes its launch date I'll be amazed, now for Halo3 I think it will be ready before the PS3.

I agree the ps3 will probably miss its launch, they have yet to show games that are playable or a working console this said how could it be coming out in a couple months, But you never know. Also if it uses blu ray the damn thing will cost alot more.

I read somewhere that Bungie has been working on a game(maybe H3) and they have gotten some polished parts that can be playable. (Not positive). But bungie has not released any news on a Halo 3 on their website.

But I think that the Halo movie will slow down the progress of developing H3.

I hope they get it out by mid/late summer '06, but If they have not worked on it much they will probally rush it and do a crappy job.  I really do not care for the story much, but I'm really just looking for a well balanced multiplayer that I can play for a long time online.(Hopefully DOA4 will hold me out until the release of H3)

I really do not think Bungie will rush the making of H3.  It will be released when it is finished.  And I do not think bungie will be finished in time for the launch of PS3.  Also, based on H2 and its release date changes, I doubt Bungie will announce any release dates until they are 100% sure whether the game will be ready in time.

I too believe that the PS3 will miss its launch. It will be easier form MS to build one game than for Sony to build a whole system. Halo 3 should be done in time for the launch just in case Sony can make it. Remember now, Halo 2 sold 3 times as many units in one night than most successful games sell in a life time. With this in mind we can conclude that Halo 3 will have a huge budget, which will focus on meeting a deadline, muliplayer gameplay, and graphics. The story of Halo is now, "Hey Chief, get on Xbox Live". Halo 2 is the reason I got Live and Halo 3 will help silver switch to gold.

this more than anything else, ever, annoys me.

Bungie NEVER missed a release date, because they only set ONE, when they knew 100% that they could make it.

There were speculations from around the scene about possible releases, but nothing official, the official date they said from the start was November 9th, 2004. That's when it was released.

sorry, not to go off on you in particular, but that always bugs me.

I kinda buy into what Rubix42 said, that the Havok(is it havoc or havok?) engine was intilially made for the 360, but was too powerful for xbox1 and halo2, which may explain the increased glitchyness on halo1vshalo2

as far as release dates for ps3, i would LOVE it if they missed a date, it would show the unpreparedness of Sony on this go-round

Gamestop has the Halo3 launch date as "Pre-Release
ETA: 10/3/06".

idk if its a good idea to release it on ps3's launch. theres advantages but put at this way.
-kid walks in to buy h3, sees a brand new system, and takes that instead. i think a new system is more appealing than a new game. idk and idc cuz im buying both.

MS is trying to make people buy Xbox 360 instead of PS3 by releasing Halo 3 at PS3's launch. This will make people buy Xbox 360 so they can play Halo 3. What good launch titles does PS3 have anyways?
