Microsoft are in more trouble here than most think, the article is spot on, the way that one guy thinks is the way millions of others think too, Microsoft simply have not come out enough on this, i don't know about the US but here in the UK they hardly advertise the console, i mean you have all these great games, make a small montage of them and in the end stick the 'ONLY ON XBOX 360' line into it, shove it into peoples faces because as it stands the Playstation 3 is still 'better' in most peoples eyes, i mean your a casual gamer, you loved the PS1, you loved the PS2, why would you all of a sudden dodge the PS3 and jump onto the 360 now? Remember that the average joe dosn't do research into what console has the best games etc he'll just go into a game shop, see the PS3 and think 'hey! it's the new Playstation, awesome!' and buy it.
Again i don't know about the US but the Playstation brand here in the UK and in many other countries is absolutely huge, and Microsoft have completely missed the opportunity i'm afraid, they spent a silly amount for DLC which the mainstream won't care about, they could have spent all that money on those awesome looking GTAIV 360's, mass produced them and made shops put it in their front windows for example, certainly would have been better than spending so much money on something that won't really make a difference when it comes to the bigger picture.
Yeah, i'm ranting, and i don't care tbh, i'm just so dissapointed and angry in the goons at Microsoft, with the right advertising through TV etc they could have really shifted the balance but now it's too late, GTAIV is just round the corner and PS3 sales are going to go through the roof.
I will say while that is tru in the uk its not here in australia, i dont know where this guy got his information for the article, but i know alot of people who have 2 360's (one modded and one for live) infact i work in a mod shop and about 50% have 2 or more 360's. now out of the 1000's of people i have served since xmas 40% have been WII and DS owners, 30% Xbox360 owners 25% PS2 owners and 5% PS3 owners. and about half of those PS3 owners that are our customers, havent even taken them out of the box. they were free with there Sony Bravia's. Over here PS3's are overpriced and have next to no games. gametraders (my local games shop) has a tiny little section for ps3 while Nintendo DS, WII and xbox360 have huge displays.
as you can see here PS3 is a minority and there is no basis for this article. only the Sony Fanboys in aus have them.
