How much more contradictory can they get?
All in good fun. I can't justify paying that(what 10 dollars is the conversion?) for just a few maps though.  I'll wait til they are free, or not use them at all.

What's contradictory about that? If you want them between May 3rd and Sept 3rd, you pay 800 points. If you wait until September 3, you don't pay anything.

AWESOME!!!
and if 2.50 is too much for a map that you might possibly play for HUNDREDS of hours, then dont buy it.

but quit fucking complaining.

I posted this before, and I think it's relevant here.

It's not the cost that bothers me. I can totally justify $10 for 4 maps, given how much I tend to play (and enjoy) Gears.

My real problem here is that the developer (Epic) isn't free to exercise their own business practices as they see fit. Cliffy wanted the maps free. Epic wanted the games free. M$, the big money meanie, won't LET them release the maps for free which is, IMHO, telling the gamers, "F YOU!".

My understanding is Epic was given a choice--charge gamers for the maps, or you don't get to release them. M$ would rather deprive fans of the game than give it to them for free. Remember, the only reason the 2 maps released earlier were free is because the Discovery Channel payed for them.

Like I said, I couldn't care less about the price. It's the principle that gets me steamed (the older I get, the more things like that get to me).

And like I said in the other thread: CONGRATS AT SUCKING! Microsoft should keep gamers' thoughts into consideration before they let game developers release DLC. Maybe there should be polls, debates, and maybe even petitions about this stuff. Polls: Should they be free a month later or 4 months later?, Debates: Should Microsoft never release anything free or not release anything at all?, and Petitions: This petition states that what game developers develop, they should release them on their own terms and not let other companies release them for money. Whatever they create, THEY should release their DLC without other people stealing the show. Who agrees?

Microsoft, what you're doing right now is worse then having your computer crash back in 1998. It makes me wanna go back in the past and have your computer DIE for all I care. That crash demonized your minds of making bad decisions. Let God get into your lives so some good can come out for all of this. Good decisions meaning LISTEN TO US AND HEAR WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY BEFORE YOU GUYS START SCREWING EVERYBODY OVER!

EPIC also had another choice: do not use Microsoft's new gaming console for that game. They could (and should) have expected this. For games for the PC, you can choose your own way to distribute updates for your games. With the Xbox 360, you depend on a 3rd party: Microsoft. And they tell what the Xbox 360 can and can't use.

Welcome to the world of DRM, 360 fan.

If the maps come with a fix to their bullshit party system, then maybe I'll buy them, until then, I'm looking forward to the Halo 3 Beta and some Halo 2 action.  I think GOW had so much potential, but they dropped the ball on multiplayer.

I think Epic should have given the maps to OXM to distribute on the disc. It would cost the gamers a little less because they'd essentially be buying a magazine and getting the maps for free and MS wouldn't have received any money, seeing as MS's excuse was that they were paying for the distribution medium.

you should send that to epic, that would be awsome. I wonder if microsoft still has to give them some kind of key to make the installations work though. do they have everybody nuts in a vice?

First off, I would blame EPIC for some of this too. I know MS can tell them they have to charge, but EPIC sat the price (this process was revlealed by the guys who made GeoWars, they said MS said they had to charge, and they chose the lowest price point).

As for complaining about it, I see it as $10 for 6 maps (4 paid for, and 2 they gave for free) and a new game mode. I think EPIC has been amazing at giving us free stuff (the new game mode wasnt even sponsored, which means they had to have paid MS for it themselves) and I have no problem at all giving them some cash back for releasing more stuff for their game, which I already have gotten my $60 worth from.

What you "fork[ed] out $60 for" didn't include these maps, and there is nothing that says you "gotta buy extra stuff for it". You can play your $60 game without these maps without any problems.

Just because you bought a Civic without a CD player and a CD player appeared later for some extra cash doesn't mean they owe you one, nor does it mean you have to buy one to keep using your car.

I don't understand this mentality that magically people owe you something.

You gave them money and they gave you a product; end of transaction... just because they make new versions of that product or attachments to it, or new products altogether doesn't mean anything.
YOU GOT WHAT YOU PAID FOR THEY DON'T OWE YOU SHIT

Damn, I'm loving these maps. Much better than Raven Down/Old Bones, if you ask me. (Well, Old Bones is okay, but Raven Down is just terrible)
