the update has fixed the vga 4:3 squashing issue...running 1280x1024 on vga and it looks sweet with small black bars top & bottom but the aspect ration is now correct smile.gif i'm happy smile.gif
gonna have to look at other games with this issue as the update seems to be a dash update not a game update as i got option to update as soon as i switched my 360 on today...before i had inserted GoW smile.gif

thank god, the bars sucked, i allwalsy bring my 19inch comptuer screen to lan parties, and it was alwlays black, and it sucked! now we can actuallly play.

i cant wait, are they really free? biggrin.gif

update for 4:3 vga owners - although in game the squished problem is sorted, during cut scenes the aspect ratio is still buggered... but at least its correct during play

The update just broke my game, I'm running 1280x1024 on a 19" TFT and it looks terrible, it was so much better when it was widescreen, not everything has jagged edges, looks messed up, and I can't connect to anyones game online, and my mate can't join mine.

Nice one Epic, you just ruined the best game ever for me!

Did the update also add the 'Connection problem' popup or was that already there?  I never experienced it prior to the update but in both games I played after the update (ranked with different people) I got the popup.

The thing that urks me about it is that there is no way to clear it from the screen quickly.  Instinct had me press 'B' to clear it.  BAM!!!  I just quit the match and am now down 50 points.

There should either be a screen to verify that you intend to quit or allow you to press a different button to clear that message.  When it pops up in the middle of a match it is too easy accidently quit. grr.gif

I noticed that for the first time today too. I'm pretty sure its part of the update. I was too busy playing the game to read what it was about so didn't know exactly what it said. That might explain why so many people kept mysteriously dropping out half way through matchs though!  ohmy.gif .

This news is about a week old, surprised it took xbox-scene so long to post it.

Still great to hear though, can't wait.

it was there before but i only noticed it once since launch. i've played gears countless hours and the first time i noticed it was the other day (before the patch). now, after the patch, i see it all the time. it got me good today. i shot a boom into the snipe on gridlock and the connection thing came up while i was reloading the boom so i couldn't get active reload and by that time the guy was ready to turn around when the connection came back. so he and the other guy in the snipe turned around and gun'd me down. if they aren't going to allow you to move at least stop the active reload meter too so when it comes back i can be ready to hit it and have a better chance.

Yea I downloaded them before I went to work... bout 98 Mb for them both....

Have to say I like Old Bones better than Raven Down... Raven Down really disappointed me... Guess because it's so simple... but I'm not counting it out yet... simplicity is sometimes better...
