Assuming you're playing against people that suck enough to let you get that close.  If you're close enough for a butt to the head, I prefer planting a grenade in thier ass and rolling away before they know what hit them.  Or just a smoke grenade if you're feeling cocky.  That is possibly the single funniest, most humiliating move in a FPS I've ever seen.

I did the same thing, I played some coop with a friend, and I guess when we ended I had the shotgun and the HoD.  I haven't been able to get the chainsaw gun back yet.  I'm sure I will.

Not to threadjack, but should I hold on to the HoD?  If seems like I would always want it cause there are many times that normal guns don't work, but then it takes up a space in my inventory when I am indoors and can't use it.

Whenever you hear that the Hammer of Dawn is offline then drop it.  It's no good from then on.
