Anyone know what the update is for and whether it will cause a problem with a modded hitachi?

i can confirm that the update will not affect a Toshiba-Samsung drive.  I updated my and the game still works fine.
Iam pretty sure its the same for a Hitachi drive.

Yip, I have updated also with my Hitachi, I can't see any anti piracy measures by M$ coming in the form of a game update so I always click yes without a worry.
