I agree on how crap the game is for Multiplayer...you cant invite friends into your room for ranked matches...then after ranked matches you are booted from the team you were playing with and have to start the entire pain in the ass process to get a game again...(though I will try the double tap X thing tonight).

Honestly they should have borrowed from bungie on this one...you should be able to host a room with your friends and switch between ranked and unranked at any time...also you should be able to play back to back matches in ranked...if they don't fix this then as much as I love the game the multi will only be played sparingly...

I don't see how some of you can say this game's MP blows?  I love it, except when the rooms are uneven and I volunteer to be on the other team than my friends... they know all my strategies... sucks  dry.gif, but really other than that I've had a blast with it... I've played more multiplayer than single at the moment... up to act 4 on hardcore already beat casual (didn't know hardcore unlocked both  grr.gif ) Now I will agree that ranks blows... I've played maybe 10 ranked games... I can get in quick.. but most times I get people that either won't talk... or are just out to help themselves... once that's over bam back to the menu... plus I've seen more of the kiddies in ranked... and they seem to think that talkin smack makes them more mature (I guess)... I'll stick to player matches until/if a patch comes out that allows a party type system..

just wondering has anyone noticed if the host gets advantage??? I swear my friend is... we usually let him host the room cause he has 10meg down 1meg up, but last night I caught him off guard 2 shots to the head and one to the torso from behind with the shotty... he spins and shoots randomly and splatters me... in the lobby he said i thought I was dead for sure... i just spun around pulling the trigger... just wondering... it's not like it bothers me or i'm mad.. just wondering if anyone else has seen this...

Ya, there seems to be a pretty sizeable host advantage.  I do a lot better when hosting, especially at close range with the shotgun.

Again my only problem is with the ranked matches and the inability to create a room for a team of your friends...though I have heard that Epic is planning a clan type thing for ranked matches...so all could be well soon...btw the game rocks. hard.

Gears is the worst game i have played for people who don't have the greatest connection.  It takes twice as long to plug someone with a gun, and the shotty is all most usless upclose.  The framerate is always great, but that is decieving for the horrible bullet lag and upclose fighting.

SHIT IS SO INTENSE!!!!

We just played a system link match in our dorm.  Me and my roomate vs our suitemates.  2v2.  so so intense.  You can't compare this with Halo, different on so many terms.  You have to actually plan stuff out, rush, flank, omg so awesome.

Haven't tried it on live yet, but its so much fun with the 2v2 system link.

Love it.

I just played online for the first time tonight and I'd have to say it is amazing.

One of the few games where you really need to rely on your team, watch each other's backs and execute a well communicated and tactical plan.

While my skills in the game aren't all that great they didn't need to be because as long as I kept my eyes open and alerted my teammates to enemy locations/provided suppressing fire I could help keep the team winning. I seemed to never fail that the team with the better strategy would win the games.

Sure games like Rainbow six and GRAW use tactical squad based combat but those games are also fairly complex. The gameplay mechanics of GoW is simple and straightforward, something that no other tactical shooter can make claim to.

I truly do believe that if you don't like GoW multiplayer and would rather have a free-for all type mode then you're more of a twitch skill/run and gun type player then you are a defensive tactical type.... GoW probably isn't for you.

For real... if you are having long wait times on searching for games I've mentioned before...

1. pick custom and pick the game type, rounds, etc

2. when you hit A to accept (right when the searching pops up) tap X (to refresh) twice quickly. (you'll get a list of rooms won't have host name but will have count in the room pick your room and go.

Enjoy!

Listen,  Halo 2  became the most played multi-player game EVER!!!     not because of graphics or weapons or Strategy, It is great because of its gameplay and MATCHMAKING. I can put halo 2 in and within 2 minutes I am playing, I can invite my friends to a game very easily, after game is over my friends are still in my party.
I know every game can't be like halo 2,  game developers should stop trying to re-invent the Wheel.

If I host a game in GoW With my friends I am waiting 5 minutes before the game is filled if ever, If I join a game the game is filled before my friends can get in the game.
THIS GAME BLOWS!!!

P.S  Halo 2 has ruined me for all other games

I agrea halo 2 has the best matchmaking system I have seen on Live.  I would love for gears to have copied that system.

Even though the matchmiking in GOW clunky it is still a very fun game to play on live.
