Retail Copy Doesn't Work. Backup Does?

Hey guys, I just bought Gears of War today, and when I popped it in I got the error: "To play, put this disc in an XBOX 360 console". Then I went thru the process of backing it up on a Verbatim disc,just out of curiosity, and the back up happens to work great... Any ideas as to why my retail version is doing this?

Same thing just happened to me, but I have not yet ripped & burned a copy.

Running Max-OPA 2.2 stealth (first release) on a Hitachi 47.

I will try ripping & burning & will post the result.

Yup, really strange but true.

Original will not play but back-up will.

I hope this was not on purpose.

I can play all my originals except GoW. If I switch back to my original FW I assume that I will be able to play the original GoW but that is not the point. So far, this is the only game that does this, I think.

Somehow, MS or whoever has some kind of new attempt at security. It is worth looking into.

Yeah i am having rh same problem with original not working which formware do you guys have? I have hitachi's v1.1

Upgrade....everyone with old firmware will not be able to play it....it has to do with the order the SS are read in....just upgrade to 2.3 and you will be fine.

Same problem here! My retail copy of GOW doesn't work .... backup copy of GOW works fine!! I'm using GaryOpa 2.2 firmware on a Hitachi 47 so I think I have to upgrade my firmware to 2.3 release .... maybe soon ..........

Just restored original firmware and upgraded to xtreme 2.3 version. Now my retail copy of GOW works like a charm  pop.gif
