What do you do at the first checkpoint on the way to get that guy's car just after it turns to dark.

I keep getting killed by the Kryll.

Ok, as for the general story, read the first couple of pages in the manual. That'll explain alot of the history.

Also, it sounds like you guys need to go into options-sound, and turn up the voiceover volume. The reason the team split up when heading to the car, is because the guy that gave them the keys demands that 2 guys stay with them as collateral.

The kryll are afraid of the light. If you need to go further, and there isn't any light, look for propane tanks to shoot. They'll explode, catch fire, and light the surrounding area. This is also explained in voiceovers (although briefly).

So yeah, try turning up the volume a bit.

Has anyone else mentioned the blatant rip off of Pitch Black with those Kryll things? Cool concept, but pretty much straight out of that movie as far as concept goes. Hell, they even look similar, just smaller.

Gears of War make references and draws ideas from many movies and shows, including pitch black, chud, aliens, alien, band of brothers and resident evil.

Ehh.. who cares??? it works.. I mean no one's complaining that the Curb Stomp was taken out of American History X... which I believe is the first movie that depicted it

Huh? Are you talking about the father? I didn't read the manual but in the game they went to his fathers house to retrieve the map of the tunnels which happened to be there. I don't know what the answer is as far as why it is at his fathers house. I don't think it was ever explained within the game. I will read the manual tonight and see what is explained in there.
