Well I got mine

I've got about 45 mins of game play in (not game progression, I died a couple of times). I'm still trying to figure ou the controls. It looks great, but it is a little too moody (dreary color schemes actually supress the amazing detail of the game.) It is still early, but it has a LOT of potential (gameplay wise) it may or may not be a Halo killer, I just need some time with it. I'll let ya know.

Play it and like it for what it is, simple as that! Master chief wouldnt last 7 seconds on Sera, that panzy ass spartan.

I think its because as far as gameplay goes, many including myself consider it the best fps of all time and they are waiting for something to knock it off the totem pole.

With that said, nope this game aint it. Its pretty as hell and very fun but just doesnt have the flow. Of course thats coming from someone who only got to play it for about 10mins so I guess thats not very fair.

It's way way better than GRAW. But it's a third-person view, so if you're a COD fan you might be disappointed with that. Unlike GRAW it doesn't reward camping though - the maps have a lot of cover but they're much less linear so if you just sit there camped out you'll get flanked and meet the business end of a chainsaw. The game plays more like a CQB squad shooter than anything...

COD3 sounds great too, but is a very different style of game that might be more to your liking. Much bigger maps, vehicles, and 24 players compared to 8 in GOW. I think the big loser is going to be Rainbow Six: Vegas since it's similar in style to GOW and at least from what I've seen in the demo, it's going to get crushed.

i think they can live simultaneously depending on your preference of shooter. RSV is first person and realistic (well more plausible). COD3 is first person as well but much different environment more patience is needed. GOW is a futuristic shootemup but cover is key. Ive played the last two, and the demo of RSV but i would like to own them all

Why do people compare it to Halo hmmmmm MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE HALO WAS THE XBOX's KILLER APP AND THIS IS BEING BILLED AS THE 360's KILLER APP!

They are quite different games, however, many have hopes that this will propel the 360 through the holiday season. Halo sold a lot of XBOXs. It remains to be seen if Gears can do the same for the 360. THAT is where the comparisons come from. If you don't like the comparisons, go bitch to MS, Epic, and the Media. They're the ones who fed the hype.

Its being billed as the 360s "1st Killer app", calm down there cheech.

Why do you mention the companies and the hype? Not one of them ever said or compared Gears to Halo and gave it a review. Its members here that are doing it, I'm typing @ them.

**If anyone thinks Gears will have the same sales as Halo 2, youre fuggin insane/stupid..chose one. That doesnt mean Gears is less of a game, but its the 1st installment. The real test will be how the sequel sells.

I like how last night on AoTS Cliff said he wouldn't comment on if there was talks of a sequel... just the way he said it made me think it said that in spite of the question..

GEARS OF WAR is a good game, but hardcore is pretty hard and not to mention they out played the A button a lot...ok back to gaming
