I dont remember walking around bumping into PacMan, The Mario Brothers, Sonic, Mr.Doom, Duke Nukem, Mr. Quake or Master Cheif recentley, but I think they were all good  characters to great games   .

Games would be very boring if now and then someone didnt think outside the box (ala all the above). Okay maybe your no Sci-Fi fan (i think youve made that quite clear), but theres no need to say it 'IS going to SUCK'. I suggest staying away from threads for games youve decided you wont like. Case Closed.

Well the gameplay looks pretty freaking good, graphics of course are pretty immense, from a violent point of view, the fact that you will get to chainsaw your mates in HD   . You get dropped in by helicopter etc, The AI seems quite good, the game heavily emphasis on teamplay. Maybe most importantly, the games in Epics hands, and they have a history of not dissapointing.

Part of the reason people are swooning over this game is because of the developers behind it, they have a track recording of making ground breaking games that take you for a ride when playing them... namely CliffyB.

Knowing nothing about the game, this would be enough to get a lot of people excited about it.

Also the game is a shooter (which are incredibly popular) that also offers extensive multiplayer co-op game modes (a popular feature that is often left out of modern shooters), couple that with the developer's track record of ground breaking/innovative game making and you have a recipe for success and fanfare.

Now to put icing on the cake what we've seen of the game is drop dead gorgeous (personal preference on art direction and game setting aside) AND the fact that the game took Best of Show at such an early stage in it's life...

Knowing all of that how could you NOT understand that people are going to be hyped for this game. A popular genre with popular but rarely used game elements, being made by an renowned and innovative developer and winning awards early in development with some nice screen shots and gameplay videos for validation.

Do I think this game will be awesome? yes I do. Do I think this game will live up to the hype... probably not but I don't think any game can live up to that kind of monumental hype.

Have you guys noticed that it is in a Marketplace ad with all items that cost points?  This makes me think that the demo could be released before it hits stores, but you would have to pay Marketplace points to download it.

Dunno about you guys but i would be pissed if Microsoft went down the pay-per-demo route   .
