Just wondering if this is true. A guy on Team Xbox who works at a best buy said they got T-Shirts and display boxes that they are supposed to give to people who pre-order Gears of War there. So if you pre-order it for just $5 down, you get a GoW t-shirt and a display box (actual box art of the game, but has "Display Box" in the corner smally.)

Just wondering if anyone who recentley pre-ordered from Best Buy, or knows someone who does, can confirm this. (Pics would be nice, but aren't needed). I just want to know before I go out to our local best buy, which is about 20 minutes away. If not, I'm just going to Game Crazy which is less than a mile away from me.

yes, if you pre-order gears of war at best buy, you get a "display only" case and a GoW T-Shirt (XL) free of charge. I pre-ordered it, i don't have any pics to prove it and no camera either. But it is true, i'd skip along down to best buy and pre order that goodness if i were you.

If you'd read anything about this game or watched any of the interviews you know that stores can sell it as soon as it arrives... so it ships on the 7th... if it's in your store on the 8th... guess what.. you can get it... the 12th is Emergence Day... from what CliffyB says... this is the gauranteed date you could go to a store and find it...

on a side note I went at lunch and got the pre-order at bestbuy... found out that they don't specify which version you will get (Collector's or regular) so I'm glad that EB has me a pre-order for the CE as well  biggrin.gif

Since I work at Best Buy, I don't have to worry about preordering anything, I usually just tell somebody in the warehouse to hold it, but that t-shirt is definitely worth the $5.  It feels like it'll actually last a while.

I know this is wrong but I thought about buying the rest of the pre-orders on the rack and then sell the shirts to those who were none the wiser....lol but i didn't...

The funny thing is I thought about the same thing, but since I work there, they would probably suspect something.

On ebay there was an auction saying "RARE T-Shirt and Display Case" or something of GoW and he was asking about $19.99 for it >_>

7th is ship date... you'll prolly not get it from EB/Gamestop until the 8th

(ps don't get me started on why companies have gone to posting ship dates instead of release dates, heck halo 2 was in the stores the friday before it was released, but at least they gave a date to stick to  dry.gif )

I inquired about this as well, and the game does come out on the 7th. GS promised that it would be available on the 7th. They were going to do a midnight run depending on what time they actually arrived, but it would be available no later than afternoon time on the 7th.
