Rumor: Gears of War Demo in Two Days? Posted by XanTium | October 10 22:01 EST

From kotaku.com: Gears of War just got all viral on us. People who subscribed to the game's official site received an email this morning with a cryptic message and even more cryptic link. The message seems to be a bit of coalition propaganda, but a dozen of the words in the paragraph are hyperlinks to the same page. The links all point to a sub-page of the Gears of War site called 48HrsExclusiveAccess. The page first shows a little black and white security video of Marcus Fenix in a prison cell and then goes black. You're give three matches to light and explore a wall on the page. If you click on any of the four messages you find there you get to see four different videos showing backstory and some gameplay. More interesting is the fact that the dozen words that are hyperlinks in the email form the sentence: Marcus Fenix has been located. You have 48 hours to mobilize. The question is what does that mean. It could mean that the linked page is only around for 48 hours or, let's hold our breath, that we will be perhaps getting a demo of Gears of War in two days. Epic has already said Demo will not be ready until after the release of the game. Most likely something to do with the backstage passes to selected events to play Gears of War.

Yeah i'm excited to play gears of war but i think they messed up the multiplayer a little.

just because they said there wouldn't be a demo doesn't mean there won't be one, after all they recently said there would be 8 multiplayer maps, and then yesterday they upped that to 10 (link).  however I doubt it will really be anything, probably just some story info or a countdown till launch, but certainly don't rule out the possibility of a demo

I work at Gamestop (I loathe it as much as you do) and I remember talking with my manager over a nationwide midnight viewing "party" for Gears of War.  All it is is us showing a preview of the game, not a demo. This might be what the website talking about... and if it is, don't waste your time.

anyone notice 2 days fromnow will make it 1 month till the launch date..  12th Oct 12 Nov. so its prob something  like, gone gold,big countdown, Xbox360 Theme & pic pack.. something new but small!

This game is already so overhyped they'd be crazy to put a demo out...it could only hurt them at this point.

that was an incredible little taste of what is to come...not sure that this 48 hours thing will be a big deal though...

Maybe he's referring to the fact that those who have played it said the whole game is pretty much hiding behind cover, and that when you do get killed you don't respawn (a la cs).  I want to respawn... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
