all you who say you arent impressed need to watch the 10 minutes of gameplay that starts off the MS conference, the game is going to rock and graphically looks better than in the past, I didnt think that was possible.

Kage is coming over later after work so we can do our annual E3 "rip on sony and drool over MS games". He will be pleased when he arrives and I have a 900 meg high res version of JUST the Gears gameplay thats seen in the beginning of the Conference  love.gif

Oh yes, I have it, it pays to be an Insider sometimes, lol

start drooling now Kage, and bring towels, I already used mine up after watching it, hahahaha

also no one answered my question.....did anyone download the other GoW vid yet?  its almost 200 megs so im hoping that its a lengthy trailer showing SOME gameplay

lol why do you respond to him. its been a year since we learned he doesnt like much. of all the huge games coming and those 2 are his only choices....

the 200 meg version is part 1 of the tv special, part 2 will air on mtv next week or something, I have it DL'd for later.

the 10 minutes of gameplay is amazing, you have to see it for yourself. Its a lot of duck and cover but looks amazing. Its not a creepy level as its daytime, so dont expect to be freaked out.

I don't see what was bullshit about it? You could totally tell the framerate was dropping in a number of scenes. Pre-rendered footage would have a perfect framerate.

Regardless of whether the 360 can handle it in real-time or not (which is what the discussion is about), the video was definately pre-rendered.  Frame-rate drops? Time for a new PC man.  There were no framerate drops.  Think of it like this... there are multiple scenes and environments in that one clip.  Are you telling me all that was rendered in real time without loading screens? Impossible.

to date they have shown nothing rendered about the game so why start now?  now i understand why you compared MS to sont with this.  i still believe that this is rendered real time, scripted yes, but real time none-the-less.  also when it comes to a scripted trailer, why would they keep any load times in and not edit it out?

You mean that wasn't real claymation?   tongue.gif

Let's see, the budget for next year goes like this- 33% to me for essentials, 33% to me for non-essentials, 33% to MS for those non-essentials, 1 % to charity for my conscience.

Does anyone know if the GoW Trailer that came in OXM the same as the one that they have on XBL?

Gears of War seems to be the best game that will be available this year. GRAW is the game that had me cross over from PS2 and so far playing online is intense but the game itself in story mode is not as good as maybe I thought it would be. There's just too much communication going back and forth that you feel that you are running a paper route while Hulk Hogan is screaming at your ear telling you what to do every step of the way. Hopefully GoW will not be a complete letdown...

Now we're just nitpicking the definitions of real-time and pre-rendered. My arguement is that this wasn't rendered on an xbox360. All the models and textures are the same so it looks extremely similar.  The gameplay videos look just as good, but not nearly as intensive as the trailer in terms of detail, effects and amount of them. Not the whole trailer, but certain scenes.

Who cares if someone isn't impressed.  They are only fooling themself.

There is some extra footage of GoW at the end of the 360 game montage.  biggrin.gif

Typically for videos like that they'll have the scenes plaything through right on the console. Record the output and throw it in a video editor for production to add the music, text, and edit the video so it flows overall.

I can record real time footage and and make a video montage too... SEE.

Ha! Nice driving man smile.gif  That's not really what I'm talking about though.  Gears of war was developed on PCs, all of last years E3 video was from PC's, why not make the promotional trailer from the PC?

now insane PC rigs aside, it was stated many times that when they moved the game on to the final dev kits, they were able to do things not possible before, making the game looking way better.  why move back to the pc when your already working on the final dev kit?  honestly, with the limits of these systems basically out of our reach at the moment, who is to say what these systems can and can not handle yet.

yes i know everything has limitations, but programming and architecture understanding is what is mainly holding back developers, maybe cliffy and his team are ahead of the game.  point being is that if we cant look forward to things getting better then what GoW is/was, then why bother being excited about the future possiblities of these systems to begin with?

Come now.  Honestly why would you think that the game is still running on the pc after 8 months with final 360 hardware, and not even on the 360.  I'm a pessimist myself, no offense, but this argument is a borderline sony zombie argument (of which i know you are not).  One of which argues that the sky is not blue.

I'm 90% sure that the GoW trailer is ALL in-game, scripted footage.  Just like any in-game cut-scene is (using the actual graphics engine, and not pre-rendered FMV).

Why do people watch these trailers of "cut scenes" and assume they are in game

Have we not learned from COD2, BF2 MC, GRAW and others that these are "cut scenes" and not in game footage
