after watching a few trailers yesterday i must say that the most impressive IMHO is the GoW trailer.  i mean my god!!!  this game shows off more then any other we have seen (including halo 3 but its still early i know) that the 360 is a BEAST!!  the trailer on the marketplace makes not only every previous game look like garbage but even every previous GoW trailer!!  ok im done exploding over here.....for now  biggrin.gif

Damn, didn't have time to get that one last night. The Fable one was impressive, no real in-game action.

I'm with jizmo, yet go even further to say I am not excited for the game at all. I just don't get the hype.

Never like 3rd person shooters and the cover/shoot gameplay isn't fun. It's a no brains shooter in the end.

I dunno, maybe I'm getting too old or have played too many games throughout my life but it just doesn't do anything for me.

I found the new footage (screenshots) less astonishing than the previous updates. Maybe it's the other games gaining up, or maybe they've had to simplify the models to get it running more smoothly or something. They're definitely more jagged than before, that's for sure.

All in all, it still looks great and a must-buy article.

Haven't seen any physics in action yet, does anyone know how much the GOW will feature any of those nice effects seen in the Unreal demo footages? I see a lot of debris and broken objects lying around, but I fear all of those are nailed to the floor sad.gif

simplify the models?  jaggies?  maybe in one scene that i can remember but the rest was real sharp, i dont know if we saw the same vid on the marketplace.

if anything the models are far more detailed then in previous footage and the motion was buttery smooth.  i know if a few of the older vids it was pointed out about how their physics wasnt even placed in the game yet.  it should have been obvious as they keep talking about destructive cover and i may be wrong but maybe the monster busting through the house was supposed to showcase some of that destructive physics.

for a video that was entirely real time, i have yet to see a game on any system come close to that graphical quality.

I'm not sure if I've seen all the new GoW stuff, but I wasn't impressed by the trailer that was shown.  No gameplay and heavily scripted animation is Sony's game, and it's embarrasing when MS does it.  I;m sure the game will be excellent and have cutting edge graphics, but the trailer was a dissapointment.  Same for COD3.

its understandable if a specific game doesnt catch someones eye, but that doesnt degrade the quality of the vid or the game.  also if the devs speak true and its easy to die, the enemies are swift and smart, and strategy is required then i doubt it will be just another no brain shooter.

to each their own.

i can understand the scripted animation, but its still real time.  even though i would have prefered real gameplay, this still gives an idea to the mood and look of the game.

speaking of which, i didnt download the TV GoW download (or whatever it was called) do they show any gameplay footage there?

IS there a place where we can get a HD version of the gameplay footage that was shown during the MS E3 conference??

See, that's exactly why I hate the scripted animation trailers.  How do we know it's real time?  Just because they used actual character models doesn't make it renderable on the 360.  Because the bridge between 3D cinematics and actual gameplay has been narrowed so far, the current trend is to seamlessly transition between the both. I distinctly saw full-fledged fluid effects in those explosions, which I have my doubts about the 360's ability to render.   I hate to always be the naysayer when it comes to stuff like this, but I don't believe that trailer is real-time.  I don't doubt that the graphics will look extremely close, but the details, effects and amount of shit happening at once will be greatly reduced.

I'm excited for the storyline (I loved Pitch Black) but I'm not sure about much else.  It looks nice, but we'll see how it plays.  I'm reticent... and I have to admit, Halo 3 kinda eclipsed GoW.  I'm sure lots of others feel the same way.

Not me. I'll reserve judgement when we actually see Halo 3 gameplay is releaseed. But GoW looks good. All I saw in Halo 3 was a great CGI teaser. Hopefully it's better than Halo 2. That was pretty short.

again all matter of opinion and im sure you have your technical reasons to believe what you believe, but how can you not tell that this was real time?

well again all matter of opinion.  IMHO, with what was actually shown on screen i was more impressed by this scripted scene then i was with halo 3's.  dont get me wrong, i was very pleased by what i saw in halo3 and for the devs to say that it can only get better is definatly reason to be excited.  as it commenly goes, i wouldnt doubt it that halo 3 turns out to be a more impressive game in the end but it is also coming out later so thats the way it should be.

i think we can all agree however that its definatly a good time to be a 360 owner  beerchug.gif

Well, that's exactly it.  My technical reasons are the only way I can tell.  Things like motion blur, particle effects, fluid based particle effects, reflection/bump/specular maps, softshadows, light sources, model detail and the amount of all that happening at once are where I make my deductions.   It's like Splinter Cell Double Agent.  Everyone thought that the screenshots looked amazing and all, but now that we've got the trailer and can see some actual gameplay... we see that it was BS all along and it looks like GRAW with a Sam Fisher skin. (I know I'm gonna catch it for that comment).

Regardless, I've had my copy of GoW on reserve for over 6 months and I'm still excited to get my hands on this one.

It was great but H3 stole the show for me.  They coulda just shown chief throw a wet fart and it would have been the best for me.   laugh.gif

But yea GoW I'm totally digging.  I saw a scene on G4 that wasn't in the trailer.  Three dudes were sitting around talking.  COD3 was definately a let down as someone mentioned, but Too Human looked bad as well.  Maybe because it was mostly in game stuff and nothing else really was.  Also, the slow motion made it look like just a really slow frame rate.

I don't see what was bullshit about it? You could totally tell the framerate was dropping in a number of scenes. Pre-rendered footage would have a perfect framerate.
