That advertising does sound a little much.  I could deal with seeing a Best Buy or Mcdonalds bill board in NFS, but prolly not something like that in Fight Night.

Define irony....listening to SOAD's Chic 'N' Stew, while playing FNR3....j/k, I just picked it up....but I won't be home for another 3hrs to play it dammit...I find that King character funny as hell, love that one commercial when he's diving for a TD.

BK commercials are excellent.

W00000t!

I want it!

the whole world is based around advertising. this is how ALL big companies start off. its just natural. and you think EA and BK over-do it in FNR3. just look at PGR3 theres like a mcdonalds every 5 blocks!

Hey,

I did not read all of the posts.  Was there an email addy for EA so we can bitch?  I can only assume that BK paid something to be in the game if that is the case then the game should cost less to buy.

Minimally there should be a disclaimer or something that says the game has advertising to an annoying level in it.

Yeah that'll happen.

Here is what I think of when I hear of BK.

It's not as bad as the OP makes it out to be, but if the King's a playable character, I'll go buy it right now.

If they have me sit through a commercial while a level loads, THAT would be acceptable (so long as I can skip it pre-maturely if the game finishes loading early).

Please tell me you are kidding. This would be one of the things I will not stand for. I get angry when I go to a theater to watch a movie and I have to watch commercials. I don't even watch TV because of them...adding them to games will cause me to stop playing them period.

I do not mind in a game when you drive by a bilboard with some brand plastered over it...but honestly if games every have commercials (skipable or not) I am done with a hobby that has brought me so much these past 20+ years...

As far as I know, the king is NOT a playable character.

You can, however, unlock him for usage.

You can "hire" him as a "promoter".  The screenshot you posted is of just that.  Think Fight Night round 2 where you could have a slut follow you to the ring.  Instead of some slut, you have the king follow you to the ring.

Ironically, he gives you a boost to "heart"...seems interesting since eating at shit-hole fast food restaurants will actually clog your heart.

Also, I don't have a problem with the ads in the game at all; it actually seems more realistic to me.  I guess it's pretty safe to say I already boycott burger king (and all other junk food), but I will not be boycotting under armour or everlast.

Get real.

Yeah, as far as I know, you can only have him as a promoter.....Which I do. I played the game all night last night and it is super fun. When I first saw the King come out with my opponent, I was laughing so hard. Once you beat your oppent that has The King as a Promoter, than you can hire him. Its awesome.

This I think is one of the funniest parts of the game...Other than bashing someones face in three times while they are falling to the gound in a knockout.

Can you fight as the crazy-scarey King from the BK commercials? tongue.gif

no shit. that guy is fucking creepy. As far as in game advertising, it will only get worse. Because companies like EA want the advertising venue, and they don't give a shit how tacky it looks (see nba2k6/need for speed).

I dont like the cheesy ones as much as the King ones. that mask just makes me laugh when seeing it.

This thread is almost as stupid as what some guy said to me while fighting him on live earlier today. So, we're in between rounds and I started manually healing my boxer (didnt take long cuz the guy couldnt hit me very much). So, he goes, "dude, if you dont auto heal next time i'm out of here, i dont have time to sit here and do nothing." WTF???? I really hope it wasn't any of you guys (if it was any of you guys that have sand in their clit about this whole advertising thing meet me on live so i can whoop the sheeiiiit out of you). Anyways, so i was like "dude, you obviously have time to just sit there and do nothing since ur sitting there playin a video game. Besides, it's 30 seconds at most. So the following round i whaled on his @ss and knocked him down and as he's goin down he pauses the game and quits. TARDED!!!!!

'twas I, I own every EA game ever made.

/me runs like hell

I totally agree that some adverts in games actually improve realizm, imagine a nascar game with no Bud car or if it belongs in the game like say a basketball game played at Staples Center.

My beef was this, I bought FN3, my first fight was Ali Frazier and im being totally bombarded with BK ads.  All that stats would pop up with a bright BK logo, the center ring, the ring posts, big banners hanging it was just over kill and totally wrong for the environment.  I mean when Ali fought Frazier there was a ABC logo on the microphone the announcer used and that was about it- definitely not the 2006 version of BK.

anyway, i have since played about 20 more games even another Ali Frazier and have not seen BK return.  The only thing that comes up is Dodge, Everlast and some clothing company.

all im saying is this was a terrible distraction to a historic boxing match.

once again Deftech brings the humor laugh.gif ....I used to like to BK commercials from last year, the office ones where the one guy was always getting shatted on and laughed at....shoulda made him a playable character to redeem himself, and that one hot chick in the office to follow his silly ass around  biggrin.gif
