Listening to the guys in the background talk... it sounds like the countering system is the same as DOAU. sad.gif I always thought DOA3 was more fun because it took the power away from button mashers. I hope they have mappable buttons so I can change the countering system. It's so unnatural to push forward and block for kicks but back and block for punches. I guess that's why I never totally fell in love with DOAU but still have a soft spot for DOA3. BRING BACK THE LOVE ITAGAKI!!!

Respectfully disagree.  To me, the difference is, button mashers are able to counter in 3, while Ultimate requires more skill to counter.

i have put more hours in the DoA series then is probably healthy (just ask deftech) and i have to disagree with you.  yeah while the countering system in general makes it a nightmare for button mashers i thought that the countering was just a bit too easy to pull off in the games.  i hated the 4 point counter system at first in DoAU but after getting used to it i saw how it made countering more of a skill and less of a game of guessing and luck.  people always say i counter too much and they fight against very few people that counter as often as i do so i take that as a compliment when a lot of people cant get the knack for the 4 point counter system.  i think it was already said that it wont be changed back to the 3 point system so if i were you i would be practicing up on DoAU to get the hang of it.

as for DoA4, after watching the vids from teamxbox, the game looks a hell of a lot better then i thought it would.  i was impressed before but now thinking about how the game will look when its finished and running on an HDTV my jaw drops.  i know there is more that can be done graphically with the 360, but considering the sheer scope of the levels (massive for a fighting game) and that its a launch title mainly developed on an altered mac with time restraints it looks great.  if the arenas were smaller like in VF (love that series also) im positive the graphics would jump 10 fold.  also i dont get what the picture mode would have to do with the pics looking so good?  whether your playing the game or just watching it, that wouldnt make a difference to how good the game looks.  the only difference i read was that while playing there wouldnt be any blur effects, only when in watch mode or watching fights while waiting for your turn would there be the blur effect.

cant wait for the game definatly one of my most wanted launch games and i know it will be a great addition to the series.   :luv:

I love to play with my girlfriend (imagine that, a girl that plays DOA of all games) but she is a major button masher.  Sometimes I fear for my controllers  ohmy.gif .  Anyway, when we fight, she beats me half the time because her random button mashing makes it impossible to counter.  I guess the 4-point counter system is fine for equally matched players, but I kinda wish it was a little more lenient.  At least give me reduced damage if I miss the counter.  When I play the computer on Very Hard while trying to collect costumes, it's a rare occasion that I can pull off a counter.  I tend to get really pissed off about this because I'm dead before I know it.  Vis versa, I can't land many attacks because the computer has some kind of psychic programming that knows exactly how to counter my combos.  I guess I'm just bitching because I suck, but I want a game to be fun and not just get my ass handed to me by the computer.  sad.gif   Or maybe I'm just too distracted by the tittage.  smile.gif

I've been playing DOAU alot lately trying to get my blocking/countering skills down for DOA4, but I hope the countering system is a tad more refined this time around.  I absolutely love DOA and DOA4 is the very reason I'm getting the 360 (and GoW, Burnout and Winning Eleven in 2006), but I'd like it to be challenging AND fun.  Ok, no more complaining from me.  biggrin.gif
