Scoped Rifles In Cod2..

If you keep dieing by the same camper, then you suck, period. You shouldnt keep dieng unless its spawn killing. Anyone who camps in the same spot is asking to be killed asap. Its the retards who keep running up right to them in the first place and keep getting killed that keep complaining about the campers. When you get shot twice from the same spot. DO NOT RUN DIRECTLY BACK TO THE SAME SPOT. GO AROUND. Theres always another way around, even if its the long way. Or face being shot everytime. Or if they are in one little corner, thats what gernades are for.

I can handle people whoring the rocket launcher, but I don't care how you rationalize it, the plasma pistol + Battle rifle combo is the biggest noob, cheap ass, pathetic combo ever.  No skills are involved, and anyone can "perfect it" (if that even applies) if they have a good connection.  Those with not so good connections cannot even use the plasma pistol, because all the homing capabilities are lost.  So "get a better broadband connection,” one might say.  Well, i wish it were that easy.  Depending on where you live, that is not always possible.

I guess the only place you can play halo with mature people is in custom games, or via sys-link.  dry.gif

Your argument just amplifies my point... I can't do anything about people's connection.  In fact, mine kinda sucks too.  but if you restrict the use of certain weapons because of connection issues then you have to include the shotgun, sword, and probably sniper too.  If I took up your argument I could give you are reason why half the weapons in the game should not be used.

You wanna talk about no skill?  then go ahead and take the shotgun and the sword out of the game... just get close, aim and fire.  Oh ya, grenades too.  WHERE DOES IT STOP?

and so anyone who uses this combo is immature?  right...

the game is the way it is.  I can stop someone with noob combo (I only call it that cause that's it's common name) despite my connection problems.  Granted it may not be easy and they will get a few kills on me, but I take pride in the fact that I can take someone down no matter what weapon they have... they all have their weakneses.

Anyway, I hope we didn't get too off topic, if we need to start a whole thread on this then I'm sure there would be plenty of responses.

You can still use all other weapons you mentioned with sub-par connections, granted the slot gun can get kinda tricky, but it still works unlike the plasma pistol, which doesn't home at all, and without homing abilities, the combo is worthless.  Understand?  Plus, it is a lot easier to counter another weapon then the pp+Br combo, once that damn PP hits you, you are screwed.  Hell, i love the challange of sniping a rocket whore or sword wield tard, i at least have a chance of countering them.

If anyone defends the pp+br combo, or whores it.  All i can say is, pathetic.

That's fine, but I would contend that the inability to defend against it is pathetic.

and let me clarify that I don't use it all the time, or even a lot, just it I have a battle rifle and no better secondary weapon (sniper, shotgun, rocket, sword) and i see a pp I will pick it up and go to town.

One last thing I thought of... nade + one BRshot to the head does the EXACT same thing as the combo, so should that not be used?

Completely different, and not even close to EXACTLY the same.  I cannot believe you even compared the two.  Grenades take precision and timing (i.e. skills)......they do not HOME in on your opponent.  With the PP you do not even have to aim, just be somewhat in the vicinity and let go of the trigger and it will hit your opponent, even following him around a corner.  Now that takes skills. rolleyes.gif

If the PP had less homing abilities, like in halo 1, then i could stomach it.

I agree the Sniper rifles are too powerful in COD2. But honestly, I can't really think of any other way to implement them realisticly. Infinity Ward Couldn't just make the Sniper Rifle kill in one headshot, because ALL the rifles are one shot kill in the head.
The only way to make it more powerful without weakening the other guns (Very glad they didnt do this, in WWII soldiers didnt have to shoot four times in the head with their 3 shot burst rifles to kill) was to make the sniper a one shot kill gun.  I suppose Infinity Ward could make the sniper rifle take longer to get into aim mode, and make the reload time in between shots longer( I have watched people take out a 4 person team one by one), but I like the game the way it is.

Tips:

* Regular rifles aim much faster then the sniper, use that to your advantage

* Smoke is your best freind against a sniper, its hard to shoot what you do not see. Beware, do not engage sniper after throwing smoke, Sniper will be waiting for you with a machine gun to the face.

* The machine guns in this game are rediculously awesome in buildings, mow those snipers down

* above all DO NOT RUN OUT IN THE OPEN STREETS WHERE A MILLION SNIPERS CAN SEE YOU

See y'all online  pop.gif

some good points yaaz..and from everyone else too.

you should lose the sniper scope view if someone is shooting you..similar to having to no scope in halo when youre under fire.

I played COD 2 over the weekend and i was sniping but i didnt use a scoped rifle most of the time. I prefered to use a single shot rifle open sights. And yes the campers are a cheese way to get alot of kills. Most realistic snipers take one or two shots and move (mostly one cause if you read or watch anything about that if you shoot more than once you have a better chance of being located). Like alot of people said before you cant really compare the game play in halo 2 and cod 2. Alot in halo 2 acurracy doesnt mean alot but in COD you can get alot of one shot kills from shot placement aimming and accuracy are key skills in COD 2.
