Dvd2xbox - Hey What Gives?
« on: January 20, 2005, 07:28:00 PM »

Hi everybody! (Hi Dr. Nick)

I live in the UK where (unfortunately) Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom is cut to ribbons and has been since it's release 20 years ago. I bought the uncut region 3 release box set for my sister and brother-in-law for christmas and have been to visit them today.

2 decades of curiosity got the better of me and i let them know I was desperate to see the film but we didn't have the oportunity to put it on (my 6 year old niece was with us) and i thought "Ah, ha! Rip it with dvd2xbox and watch it when I get home". I did the 3 hour journey back to my house in record breaking time set up the xbox and, WHAM, the movie played back with CSS blocking all over the shop. I thought, well, what if I FTP it to the PC, create an ISO with the files, mount it with Daemon tools and DVDdecrypt the result. The answer I got was the same CCS rubbish as before ;o(

I thought this program was meant to deCSS a DVD as it was ripped and was wondering what the heck was going on? Can anyone enlighten me as to what's gone wrong because I'm all out of ideas? Has anyone else had any similar problems with this program being unable to rip a DVD properly?

Thanks in advance for any light anyone can shed on the matter   blink.gif

Many thanks in advance <

I had this problem a while back with Dodgeball.

There is a new type of DVD Protection on the market. Any new releases have this new protection.

DVD2Xbox does remove CSS protection, because older movies work fine.

I got Dodgeball onto my Xbox but I couldn't use DVD2Xbox. I had to rip the movie with DVDdecrypter and FTP the movie to my xbox. Now it works great.

Hope this helps,

Megahurt

Thanks, man. Before i posted I did a search and saw your "DodgeBall" post and hoped you might have come to a solution.  Guess I'm not putting 20 years of curiosity to bed tonight  sad.gif

Should have nicked it when they weren't looking  ph34r.gif

dvd2xbox uses a port of libdvdcss which still has some issues with certain drives:

Try 0.6.3 and see if it makes any differents. In general using your PC is the best alternative.
