IMO it does look better on the PC unless someone cares to explain how I make the xbox 360 display @1600x1200

i think when the devs said that the best looking version will be on the 360 they were thinking about more then just screen resolution.  IMO the textures seem more crisp and detailed in the 360 version and its entirely possible for the 360 version to support higher poly counts, more particle effects, and more stable frame rate.  there are always many ways to consider the graphics and looks of a game.

have u played cod 2 on the pc? and i dont mean the demo either. in the full version, u can really crank out the textures, and they are not cranked on the 360. im not saying it looks bad, its just not on par with the pc's "extra" setting.

have you played the finished 360 version? and im not just talking about the demo either.  if not (and im guessing no) then how would you know that the settings arent cranked.  with the console setting a minimal standard, it gives the devs more to work with and a more solid ground to improve and optimize there engine.  im not here to argue i just like to take the developers words for it  tongue.gif

MS have probably hurt themselves with the whole kiosk fiasco

I doubt that. Wait till the system is released and then wait to see what people are willing to pay for em despite the whole "Kiosk fiasco" beerchug.gif

I agree, the buzz around the kiosk I saw was amusing to watch.

Everyone who walked by was aware of it and I heard more than a few wows.

The kiosks are meant for the uninformed.  They get the word out and they are working.

i was at walmart tonite to buy the usual, brewskis, and figured id stop by the kiosk for a quick play. the 360 itself was laying on its side, powersupply right behind it, and about 4 xbox games stacked right ontop of it.  no quirks with the unit but how it wasnt over heating... i have no idea =) just thought it was funny

I played the CoD 2 demo things I noticed...

-No AA At all, I shall ignore the fact that the demo was also in 480p (damn you walmart)
-No trilinear filtering! Hello and welcome to the twenty first century CoD 2 Dev team! this shouldn't be left out.
-Lack of rag dolls, Wow I love seeing people's feet poking through concrete
-Bad AI, enemys at times would totally ignore me, allies seemed to incompetent to actually advance and kill enemies.
-I got the xbox 360 to get a low FPS! At the begining I looked behind the jeep, the lack of fluid motion soon followed.
-"Umm who are who? Here let me get closer ok there NOW the textures loaded 2 feet in front of me!" I love LOD, its a great performance saver, just don't make things EXTREMELY OBVIOUS!

Things I liked
-The controller was very comfortable (even though this has nothing to do with the game!)

Oh well, this just makes me want to play PD0 that much more....

ok, i finally got to try the kiosk, so here is my perspective:

first, the controller:  don't hate me, but i kinda don't like it.  it is a bit too small (i'm a big ass dude).  i was hoping more for the feel of the logitech wireless i use now, or at least the size of the s.  either way, sticks felt very nice and fluid.

now the games.....butnow i don't look at things as detailed as some of you.  for instance, i am not even gonna attempt to tell the difference between the size of this pixel verses that pixel, n shit like that so bear with me:

the first game was King Kong, and i watched a kid get is ass beat in it.  i'd seen the demo on the PC, but just wasn't really impressed with it here.  it seemed to lag when king kong would jump from those ledges, and the graphics seemed to have these "sweet spots", where some of it would look kinda like sketch art, and some looked like real life (like T.Rex's belly).  Also, the water looked better than i've ever seen, but still kinda weird.  i am aware these games aren't finished.

next was Kameo:  and sorry, but i just am not a kid anymore tho i did give it an honest shot.  i can see some next gen things in there, the morphing is pretty cool and i was just starting to get into the combat.  very colorful but i am sure if the kiosk was setup right it would've looked better (there were black bars on the top and bottom of the game, so it looked like crap.)

last was CoD:  wow.  this is my kinda game, what with the FPS'in and all.  seriously, this is more like it....even tho the setup was all wrong.  what ruined it was that lack of customization for the controller, cuz i just can't play without inverted sight.  anywayz, wow!  holy fucking wow.  i have never seen a game look like that.  that is all i can really say.

considering that the displays are not setup right, these are old demos and not the real games yet, and these are the very first waves of games.....i am really impressed.  can't wait to see the new live, and really can't wait for gears of war.
