I don't pay much attention to 1up, so it's no wonder I didn't see a date.

However, I did hear that it was coming in March. Thought it was in an interview or one of Major Nelson's podcasts. So that means any day after 3/31 we should see it ;-)

Ahh...found it...
Keynote remarks by Peter Moore at the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show On January 4th of this year.

QUOTE
By March, we'll be proud to announce that more than 20 games will be available through Xbox Live Arcade, games like Streetfighter 2 from Capcom, games like Texas Hold 'Em and Marble Blast Ultra. Texas Hold 'Em will be the first fully sponsored game on Xbox Live Arcade, sponsored by our partners at (River Vail ?).

Guess it's not an accurate date... But from this source? I know Live Arcade games seem to be plauged with delays.

I can't wait for SF, though it's too bad the d-pad sucks on the new controllers  sad.gif

I'll be interesting to see how this texas hold-'em game pans out...

Here's thinking they'll let you gamble with MS points (since it's not real money and can't be converted back to cash).

that'd be something if down the road they do add actual products you can buy with them external to the XBLM.

He said 20 games by march right?

so far we've got:
Bankshot Billiards 2
Bejeweled 2
Crystal Quest
Gauntlet
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved
Hardwood Backgammon
Hardwood Hearts
Hardwood Spades
Hexic HD
Joust
Marble Blast Ultra
Mutant Storm Reloaded
Outpost Kaloki X
Robotron: 2084
Smash TV
Wik: Fable of Souls
Zuma Deluxe

which is only 17

Jewel Quest
(Texas Hold'em Game)
(Street Fighter Game)
where due out in February, so they would have made 20 had they been released on time

March is supposed to bring:
Astropop
Feeding Frenzy

It'd be really sweet if the XBLA kept up with the full retail releases in terms of quantity... the Xbox 1's Arcade game selection was abysmal.

I've had a few ideas for XBLA games though I don't really have the time or the means to make it happen...

There's always the DOA4 stick... I actually hacked apart a wireless controller and using a few resistors replaced the analog sticks with wired in Happ Ultimate's... then wired up 6 arcade buttons between them in a MDF "wood" case(hopefully Ill get a tutorial up soon). Been using them for Geometry Wars, Mutant Storm, Robotron and Smash T.V.... but yeah...if people play this game RIGHT there is gonna be lots of broken controllers out there ;-).

My wish list for XBLA games is pretty small...Joust and Gauntlet are my two favorite arcade games. I'm hoping for an Activision version of Shanghai and Marathon from Bungie...longshots, but we can always hope.

I'd be happy with an arcade perfect versions of some of my old favorite 2D fighters: (with netplay and Leaderboards of course)

#1 Killer Instinct 2
#2 Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
#3 Eternal Champions (not an arcade game but awesome none the less)
#4 Killer Instinct 1
#5 Primal Rage

---
As for hacking up a wireless controller into an arcade joystick... not a bad idea, though it wouldn't be too difficult to hack one up into an adapter for something like an X-Arcade

I dunno about arcade perfect, but I'd take 720p versions of them (UMK3 wasn't my cup of tea, not after MK2).  I also never got into the godzilla-like movements of Primal Rage, but if they cleaned that up, I'd buy it.

I hope SF2 comes out either today, or the end of the month, because I'll be busy with Burnout in the meantime.  Who wants to bet it'll be 1200 MP?

maybe "Arcade Perfect" wasn't the right term, I think they'd be best to base the port off of the arcade version as at the time the arcade version was above and beyond the console ports.

It'd be nice if they upped the resolution, made them run at a higher FPS, and upped the color pallet of the sprites to match that of todays tech... maybe cleaned up the gameplay a bit to be more fluid and forgiving (particularly with titles like Eternal Champions and Primal Rage).

I hope it's not 1200MP... I probably wont be buying it if it's over 800. Seriously haven't they milked the series enough?

I won't pay over 800 either.  And even that would be tough to swallow.  Considering all the quarters and $$$ I slapped down in the arcades and stores respectively, they should give this game to me for free.  "Milking" isn't really the term I'd use... how about "Jerked off until bloody"?.

Ohh, and bring me some Eternal Champions.  That game was amazing.  First environmental fatalities ever?  Or was MK2 first?

MK1 had "The Pit" which anyone could upper cut someone off of.
It hit arcades in '92. Eternal Champions came out in '93 I believe.

MK2 which hit arcades in '93 (not sure if before or after ET) had a "The Pit II" (which was like "The Pit" but with no spikes) as well as the "Kombat Tomb" (spikes on the ceiling) and the "Deadpool" (acid bath).

BTW if you can get the Sega CD version of Eternal Champions, it's not just the Genesis version with better sound, about every aspect of the game was inproved... it could almost be considered a sequel.

MK would rock, but you know they will prolly milk the original first before 2 or 3.

The 360 dpad isn't as bad as the psp / playstation dpad at least.
