Stream Computer Monitor To Xbox
« on: October 26, 2004, 05:11:00 AM »

would it be possible to have a program that will stream you computers video signal to your xbox and have it be displayed on your TV?  that way I can sit in my nice comfy recliner and surf the net while switching back and forth to ball games etc...  I know I could just install an OS on my xbox, but my computer specs are so much better...

I am not a programmer, but I just realized that it may be simple to do.  have a program on the xbox that can connect via remote desktop to display the monitor feed.  is this possible at all??

its already done.. you need xbmc for this. there is a python script+windows program, you just have to run the program in pc and it will stream your desktop. then you have to run the script from xbmc script menu.

There's a client/server program called VNC that has many ports (Windows, OS X, OS 9, Linux)  - I actually can't recall if it's open source but there's soo many ports by many different authors and companies I'd be surprised if it wasn't.

I believe that a program does need to be running on the pc.

Since I have TV in on my video card I can also watch the same tv channels or different channels on my tv and computer.

Video cards with VIVO (video in video out) are the greatest IMO you should just buy one of those tongue.gif
