you cant just swap out the dvd drive, and yes you can do this via usb and linux...but is it worth it? just use your pc...
unless you xbox is your pc...
but then your running linux and already know this.  <

No there is no such software as the xbox drive can't do anything but reading data.
It's impossible to ever make it write.

I know that you as of now can't switch the dvd-player to a dvd-burner. But wouldn't it theoretically be possible to in SOME way hack the firmware so that a dvd-burner will be recognized as an xbox-drive and then have "extra" code in the firmware that allows the burner to act on it's own? However I suppose it would take a whole lot of work to accomplish this, but I would only like to know if it's a possibility at all. Not that I really need this, but if the xbox has been hacked this much, you might do more.  <

Can you somehow have the Xbox set up so that your computer sees it as another harddrive, and then burn something from the xbox harddrive using your PC burner?  <
