Gta Iv Mod With Hotswap

didnt even know this, till i just played with a guy online... u can hotswap a burned game with modified files, i read one way is right when u click install to ha, u switch discs... is there a way to hotswap w/o installing? as i have a 20gb hd, and would have to delete alot....
