NO NO NO! even if you were to remove a hard drive your on board flash on the motherboard can be updated and youd be SOL. the updates dont only go on HD's they also get installed on your NAND!
and to answer your question, the answer is NO!

exploit it, and thenyou can play the games without running the updates!

and OP do the JTAG there will not be a softmod that works with this.it requires soldering to work to begin with

on a jtaged unit army of 2 asked for update...i installed the game onto the hard drive using nxe and ran the game without it needing an update....i am not sure if this works on retail units as well

Yes I had the same thing with "Army of 2" and Bioshock 2. Bioshock 2 tho has still been giving me troubles launching with xexmenu. Sometimes it says it cant launch and I need to update. But if I shut the machine off...wait and then restart it works. I really dont know whats going on with that.
I even see there is a new dash update for box live that is higher than 8955. Can a Jtaged xbox update anymore or are we currently stuck at 8955?
