360 vs PS3: 4 Recent Multi-platform Examined
« Reply #15 on: February 27, 2008, 11:41:00 PM »

This is obvious thats its a bogus Sony paid review. I mean damn it's so bias it's sick. Bottom line, I have all three systems. I play my Wii for family time. I use my PS3 when my wife and I want to watch a nice BR movie. But when it's hardcore gaming time. There is no doubt that the 360 wins hands down. All the crazy long downloads alone are enough to make me wanna toss the ps3 out into the trash. Let alone the basic 1980's looking poor excuse for an online service. Hell I have seen better on CompuServe smile.gif (wow that line is gonna show my age something terrible.) Then to top it off companies like EA will never make a game better on the 360. They are so far up Sonies ass it's not funny. They make bad multiplatform games on purpose. They pick their favorite bitch then the other consoles get sloppy seconds. It's been this way for years. This ain't nothing new.

Didnt have to read full review just the quoted conclusion was enough to scream paid fanboy.

I too own all 3 systems, PSN better than LIVE (cept for price), holy shit what crack was that guy smoking.  LIVE and its in game tie in to GUIDE- friends list, private chat, text msg destroy PS3 version its not even close!!!

Um finding and getting into a game..... um yeah, check the install base for COD4 on each platform or just look at the # of players online, 360 usually has a 4:1 advantage over PS3 for this game. Not to mention PS3 game join drops that are near nonexistant on 360 in my exp.

Another thing not mentioned, Mics!!!!!!
For the cheese that is the 360 wired mic, it destroys the PS3 BT implmentation!!!!  Its uniformity of quality and install base shines here.
On ps3 usually only 1/2 - 1/4 peeps have mic's whereas on 360 its nearly always 80-100% of players mic'd.... not to mention everyone that is actually sporting a mic on PS3 have different ones and it shows with quality of voice and constantly having people get their mics dropped.

Dont get me wrong, COD4 on PS3 is imo prolly the best game oout for ps3 top to bottom, its not COD4's fault the PS3 hardware and PSN are a few laps down compared to 360 and LIVE.

There may come a time when PS3 does surpass the 360, but with COD4 being the flagship game for each system right now(look at the sales comparred to other titles) 360 pwned this round.

Call of Duty 4 plays nearly the same on both systems, differing only in superior online integration on PlayStation 3. With Devil May Cry 4, the game is all-around better on PlayStation 3 (despite the horrendous installation process). Burnout Paradise emerges as decidedly better on Sony's system thanks to EA Criterion's decision to make it the leading version of the game.

gamepro.  i haven't heard that name in a while, guess they got a nice check to tell us we would be better off picking up a ps3 for mutli platform titles.

guess they say that because nobody would buy it for its exclusives.

Sorry, but I disagree with that. As a proud owner of both systems, I made my decision to buy a PS3 EXACTLY for this rerason. PS3 exclusives so far have been fantastic in my view - Drakes Fortune, Ratchet & Clank, Motor Storm - and the ones yet to come - Gran Turismo 5, Tekken 6, Metal Gear 4, God Of War III, Time Crisis 4...all are and will be brilliant games. Don't get me wrong, Im not a fanboy for either console - I own both cos I like both, each for different reasons, I got the 360 mainly for PGR3 and Kameo, and then Gears Of war, Forza 2 etc...

As far as multi-format games go, I almost always buy the 360 version simply because I prefer the controller, but if a 360 style controller is ever released for the PS3, that may change... smile.gif Also, as for the online part- PS3's online service is fantastic considering its free, I do prefer Xbox Live at the moment, but you need to remember 360 is a year older than PS3, so it has a lot of catcing up to do still....with Gears 2 on its way though, I think my ps3 will be gathering dust at christmas for a while tongue.gif

my ps3 lasted me a month andim bored with it, ratchet and klank is a stupid game imo and as for gran turismo 5 to be honest im bored of waiting, id rather get couple of hundred quid than have it sat doing nothing losing value, maybe 1 day you could get an xbox controller for the ps3 but that really defeats the object, the whole ps3 systems seems to be very messy and having to listen to the in game music just finished it off for me! the xbox OS is much much better than anything ps3 will ever have to offer, everything jsut makes sense and is where it should be, im not an xbox fanboy as i have them both, i just think the ps3 is seriously over rated for all the wrong reasons

I own both consoles in question, and on paper the ps3 is better than the 360.

But in the real world, I feel my 360 is out preforming my ps3 ATM.

I work in the rental industry, so have access to all games and IMO the xbox wins most of the time and most of the cross platform games I've purchased are xbox, mainly because of xbox live.

I do feel that developers are still learning the PS3, and at some point it will over take the xbox graphically.

But as long as the gameplay stays the same on both, I think M$ will stay in the lead, graphics aren't everything.

interesting article, does seem slightly biased though, controller preference really doesn't seem like a valid arguement to me, it's just whatever your used to is obviously gonna be better.

course the controller point is a valid argument, its the key component to how we play games! its built better and fits perfectly, the ps3 one though is cheaply built and slips out of my hands whenever i touch it! i cannot for the life of me get used to the ps3s controller.

all i have to say is:

10 million users vs 3 million users

and who cares if it is free.  $50 is not a large fee.  A lot of people have no problem with this cost.

I think 360 has the edge these days, but I also feel the 360 is near peak in performance, where the PS3 has a ton of room to improve down the road.  I own the wii, ps3 & 2 - 360s.  Ratchet & Clank on the PS3 blew me away in terms of graphics and control (especially on my 61" 1080P TV w/ 5.1 surround).  I can't compare anything on 360 to it, now even GOW.  On the flipside the 360's been around longer and has more hit titles.  But I feal, that'll all start changing later this year.

...and this is exactly why it's quicker to get an online match. Fewer players, shorter matchmaking times. Given the problems that have snakebit PS3 COD4 users, I'm surprised many people at all are playing on their servers.
